Kit has the Flying Spaghetti Monster on her Livejournal wishing you a Merry Christmas! The FS Monster was created by a physics student in light of the creationism vs. evolution teaching issue in schools. I agree with you that the Creation story must be full of symbols. But for a moment, ponder the possibility that God could have created the earth already being 4.5 billion years old! Muahahaha! Seriously though, just be sure and understand which creationists you're speaking to. Cause there's more than one kind. Take me for instance; sure I freely admit I don't know what happened, but I like to think that God created science, and with science created everything. So maybe God sat there for 4.5 billion years doing stuff while the earth aged. Eh? EH?

And how were all your religious experiences bad, outside of Bethany (ew) and Sunday School (wahhhh)? I kinda liked hearing Oma's stuff. :3

Oh... and one more thing... what about mythology? Isn't some of that creation stories too? And yet nobody has a problem with that being taught in schools. It seems like lots of cultures have their own version of creationism; the good that comes out of it depends on if you teach it as hard verbatim truth (which I don't agree with ~ you gotta look at things in context) or as a story with symbols (like the other stories taught in world literature). I kinda think that to remain open-minded, its important to teach everything, and let the students sort things out for themselves. Students aren't stupid, and I would personally be insulted if something a lot of people believe in was left out, regardless of how I feel about the truth in it.

Just some stuff to think on. :3
