Chapter 3
After they’ve ran for a while, Tatsuya stopped and tried to catch his breath while looking back. “I’m pretty sure he’s not following us…right?”
Some of the other boys nodded and they decided to go back to the Okiya. Once inside, Tatsuya and Kazuya decided to do some cleaning when a little boy peeped inside their room shyly. Noticing the little boy, Tatsuya walked up to him “What is it?”
“A-anou, Ueda-senpai, Kitagawa -sama wants you in his room now. It’s about the painting for your posters.”
Tatsuya grimly nodded and followed him out. Kazuya absent-mindedly sighed and was about to continue cleaning up their room when another boy called him. “Kamenashi -senpai, Matsumoto sensei wants you to show him your dancing.”
Kazuya frowned “Now? But my lesson is tomorrow…not today.”
“Sensei said that he has something to do tomorrow, so the lesson would be forwarded to today.”
Kazuya nodded “Very well, I’ll change into my dancing outfit now, can you please tell him to wait for a few minutes?”
The boy gave him a quick nod and quickly ran out of the room. Kazuya chuckled at the sight of the little boy, and closed the door silently. He carefully undressed himself from the yukata that he was wearing and hangs it on the rack. He took down his hikizuri and put it on. He then walked out of his room, and closed the door behind him.
Before entering the dancing room, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He kept telling himself that it will be okay today, and that Matsumoto sensei won’t hit him. Opening his eyes, he put on a smile and opened the door.
Matsumoto Jun was the best dancing teacher in the whole of Japan, and being the son of Kitagawa’s close friend, he accepted the offer to teach the young geishas to dance. He was known for his pitiless ways of trainings and was often displeased with everyone. He would have a cane with him every lesson and the unlucky student of the month will be hit every lesson. Kazuya’s been hit by him for the past two months now, and his wounds are just healing.
Kazuya looked at him nervously before bowing down politely, greeting him. Matsumoto gave him a frown “Well…what are you waiting for? Get your starting position ready.”
Kazuya nervously stood up and unfold his fan. Matsumoto picked up the shamisen…the music started and he slowly danced along with the melody, his body swaying from one side to the other. Before he managed to continue, Matsumoto had shouted STOP to him. Kazuya stopped, looking confusedly at him. “What’s wrong…Sensei?”
Matsumoto stood up and instructed Kazuya to do the pose he was doing before. When he had posed, Matsumoto walked over to him, crouched down and hit his legs with the cane. Kazuya squeaked from surprise and flinched.
“How many times have I told you NOT to do that? Do you ever listen?”
Another hit…and Kazuya flinched from the pain.
“I’m asking you a question…ANSWER ME”
He hit Kazuya again. This time, Kazuya could feel his wounds re-opening and tears were forming at his eyes. Matsumoto smirked at him, grabbed the hem of his kimono and pulled it up, revealing several cuts from all the whipping from the past two months. Some were healing while the others were opened again from the hitting just now.
Matsumoto touched the wounds “My, my….does it hurt?”
Kazuya gasped in pain, tears were flowing freely down his cheeks. “Y-yes.”
“Well then, if you don’t want to have anymore wounds, WORK HARDER!” and once again, he hit the boy with his cane, earning a scream from him.
Kazuya couldn’t take the pain anymore and he fell on his knees, crying silently.

Jin was walking down a row of okiyas, clutching the bracelet tightly. He was looking for the famous Kitagawa Okiya…looking for that boy. He grinned when he saw the okiya, and quickly ran towards it. A young, pretty boy greeted him and blushed when he smiled back.
“What can I do for you today, sir?”
“I found this bracelet, and it belongs to one of you…”
The young boy looked at it closely “I’m afraid I won’t be able to differentiate the different bracelets…but Kitagawa - sama can…do you want me to call him?”
“Hai, onegaishimasu…”
Jin was ushered inside one of the rooms, and was told to wait for a while before an old man finally came in.
“I heard that you have something to return to me?”
“Hai…this bracelet…may I know, who is the owner of this bracelet?”
Kitagawa looked at the bracelet for while “Yes..I do know who the owner is. Thank you very much for returning this bracelet to us.”
Jin was about to ask more questions when he heard a cry from the other room. He looked at Kitagawa “A-anou…what is that noise?”
Kitagawa politely smiled “That…is just one of our students being trained.”
Jin nodded in confusion. That cry sounded more like someone was being hurt. A few seconds later, he heard another sharp cry…this time louder. Jin looked awkwardly at Kitagawa and was going to ask him when another boy barged into their room.
He kneeled down at Kitagawa “Kitagawa-sama….please…please let him go. He won’t be able to survive anymore! I’m begging you! PLEASE!”
“My, my Ueda -kun, I am not one to interfere when a teacher is teaching his student.”
Ueda looked helplessly at Kitagawa, and finally, at Jin. Jin couldn’t help feeling bad for the student in front of him and to the one in the other room “Kitagawa-san, may I please see your other student…the one in his lesson right now?”
“Well…maybe not now - “
Jin cut him off and dropped a purse of coins in front of him “If you want money, take it. I only want to talk to him for an hour…”
Kitagawa gave him a greedy smile “Very well…Ueda! Go and escort our guest to Matsumoto sensei’s room.”
Ueda quickly stood up and gave Jin a grateful smile and led him to the room. As he gets closer and closer, he could hear some sobs and some muffled cries, there’s goose bump on his skin now. From the agonizing cries and sobs, this place is more like a torture chamber than a normal okiya. Ueda stopped in front of a room.
“Matsumoto-sensei, may I please come in?”
“What do you want?”
“There is a guest in here to see your student and Kitagawa- sama has allowed him to come in.”
*silence*
“Very well, I was just about finished anyways.”
The door opened and Matsumoto came out, ignoring the other two and walking away. Once he was out of sight, Ueda rushed in and Jin followed him quietly. He stopped dead, on his tracks when he saw the figure lying on the floor.
Kazuya has fainted from the pain, and Jin could see some blood streaks on the tatami mats. Ueda was beside Kazuya and was trying to get him to sit up. Jin quickly rushed to the other side and helped Ueda. “Kazu…ne, Kazu-chan! Wake up! Please!! Don’t...die..”
Jin looked at the latter’s tear-streaked face and inspected the boy’s legs and saw many wounds from being whipped over and over again. Looking at his wounds, Ueda was sobbing now, hugging Kazuya. Jin stared at the boy. It was him….he wanted to meet up with that boy just a moment ago…and now, this same boy is lying down unconscious. Jin was speechless with shock when Kazuya stirred.
Ueda noticed it and quickly looked at him “Kazu…chan?”
Kazuya smiled weakly at him “Tat- chan…”
Ueda bursts into tears and hugged him while Kazuya reached out a hand to pat Ueda’s head weakly. Jin cleared his throat making Ueda and Kazuya looked at him “Do you want to go to a doctor?”
Kazuya shook his head “No, it’s okay. We won’t be able to afford it.”
“I’ll pay.”
Ueda’s eyes widened “Really?”
Jin nodded and Ueda smiled, but Kazuya protested “Tat-chan, it’s fine…I don’t want to cause anymore troubles...”
Ueda merely shook his head “No…you must go to the doctor’s” and he bowed with gratitude towards Jin “Thank you…very much; we appreciate this very much, okyakusama.”
He smiled at Jin “If you wouldn’t mind, can you please help me carry him? I’m afraid he’s too weak to be able to walk right now.”
Jin carried Kazuya, who blushed, bridal style out of the okiya. Everyone started muttering when they saw that and was surprised to find someone who’s willing to be that kind.

At the doctor’s…
Kazuya hissed in pain when the doctor dabbed some antiseptic at his legs and was clutching Ueda’s hands tightly. He gritted his teeth as the doctor applied some medicinal herbs on top of his wounds that stung like hell. He sighed in relief when the doctor has finally finished bandaging his legs. He smiled gently at Kazuya “It’ll be best if you don’t do any trainings for a while…and let your legs heal.”
“Hai, arigatou, sensei.”
Limping out of the doctor’s office with Ueda helping him, Kazuya turned to Jin and bowed slightly, thanking him. Jin looked at Ueda “I want to talk to him alone for a while, can you please leave?”
Ueda nodded and left them together. Kazuya nervously looked at Jin “I..I’m really grateful for what you’ve done to me…I-“
“Kazu-chan?”
Kazuya’s head snapped up “Huh?”
“You are Kazu-chan, aren’t you?”
Kazuya looked at him confusedly “How do you know?”
Jin hugged the latter tightly “Kazu…it’s me…it’s Jin.”
Kazuya’s eyes widened and there were tears on his eyes again. He returned the hug “Ji..n”
“I’ve finally found you, as I’ve promised.”
“Ji..n…aitakatta.”
Kazuya was sobbing really hard now. Not wanting to let go of Jin.
