I watched him from afar. Always from afar. I couldn’t, not ever, walk up to him. I couldn’t even look at him in the eye. It would be too embarrassing.
As I looked at him, jealousy bubbled up. He was laughing. Again. Laughing with his girls. Again. It was tiring to look at. Depressing and tiring, yet I couldn’t take my eyes away from him. When he turned a tiny fraction, I spun around. I couldn’t let him catch me staring. It would be too embarrassing.
As I forced my locker open, I saw him from the corner of my eye. He was still laughing. And although I hated that he was laughing with those girls of his, I had to admit that his laugh was nice to listen to. But I would never admit that. It would be too embarrassing.
“I’ll see you beautiful ladies later,” he said in his flirtatious voice. I heard the girls giggle and chirp their goodbyes. Goodbye and good riddance, I muttered under my breath. The number of students left in the hallway was lessening. It seemed like they were all rushing.
“Did you hear about Seung Ri’s party?” a girl who sidled up against the locker beside mine said to her companion.
My breath stopped and I stood frozen like a statue.
“Tonight, right?” the other girl said.
“Yeah! I heard not just anyone was invited.”
“Well, duh! Only anyone who’s anyone has the right to be invited, it is Seung Ri’s party after all.”
At that moment, I felt my heart sink, stop, and die. Swallowing hard, I tried to reach out to my History book with trembling hands. I wasn’t invited to that party.
“Hey there, ladies.”
I was frozen. Again. It was Seung Ri, standing behind me.
The girls laughed nervously and tried to come up with something to say but failed.
“You’re coming tonight?”
Their blood-red lips stretched into smiles across their skinny little made-up faces.
“Can’t wait to see you there.”
One of them laughed out loud before they finally left.
My heart calmed and I grabbed hold of my book.
“Young Bae, right?” Seung Ri was still there.
I bit my tongue and nodded.
“Any plans for tonight?”
I closed the locker door and turned to face him before softly saying no.
“Great. Come to my party.” He flashed his white teeth at me and I wished that my heart would stop and die for real.
Get a hold of yourself. I looked down at my feet and slowly shook my head. “I couldn’t possibly.”
“If you don’t mind, you can stay with me and my buddies. I know you don’t have anyone else to stay with anyway.”
He was mocking me. He was saying that I didn’t have any friends. But he invited me, me, to his party. He invited me to stay with him-I didn’t care much about his ‘buddies.’ I was face to face with Seung Ri, standing there like an idiot as he just asked me to come to his party and stay with him. It would be too embarrassing. But I said yes anyway.
AN: This one's for
yourmyfantasy who wanted BaeRi with a playboy!Ri. I couldn't exactly make him a playboy (I'd cry if I just imagined him with that personality), so I made him some super popular school kid instead. I hope you like this one! =)
