Whenever You Fall (Big Bang-SHINee crossover)
Jong Hyun opened the door and was greeted by a loud shriek so early in the morning.
“Omoooo!” Seung Ri was bawling his head off. Big Bang’s youngest took SHINee’s lead by the shoulders and started shaking him with wide eyes. “What happened?”
“Seung Ri, Seung Ri,” Jong Hyun tried to say, his voice shaking. “Calm down!”
Seung Ri looked down at his feet and let go of Jong Hyun’s shoulders. “Sorry, Jong Hyun.”
“I hope you won’t be too noisy. Jinki hyung is still asleep; he was exhausted from last night’s show.” Looking past Seung Ri, he saw Seung Hyun and Ji Yong. He stepped aside to let them in.
Jong Hyun was silent as Seung Ri, calm now, walked past him, followed by an irritated Ji Yong. He looked up at Seung Hyun, who had been silent the whole while.
“Seung Hyun hyung,” he said softly.
The older man looked at him, unable to hide the worry in his eyes.
“Thanks for coming. Jinki hyung would really appreciate it that you came to see him.”
Seung Hyun looked down and nodded, proceeding to the living room of the group’s dorm.
“Boys,” Jong Hyun called softly as he opened the door of the bedroom. “Seung Ri, Ji Yong hyung and Seung Hyun hyung are here.”
“Should we wake Jinki hyung?” Taemin’s soft voice could be heard from the living room.
Jong Hyun paused for a moment and shook his head. “Hyung needs his rest.” He stepped away from the open door and three of the four remaining members of SHINee came out.
“How is…” Seung Hyun started hesitantly as Kibum closed the door after coming out of the room. He gulped and continued, “How is he?”
The younger ones looked at Jong Hyun, who spoke up for them. “Jinki hyung still lacks rest. He’s been so fatigued and that little slip on the show last night was too much for him.”
“I heard he collapsed after the show,” Seung Ri whispered. “Is that true?”
The four nodded.
“We had to cancel today’s appointment because he couldn’t make it,” Minho told them.
“I’m sorry I…” Seung Hyun looked down; he didn’t want to see them looking at him. “I’m sorry I couldn’t come any sooner.”
“Hyung,” Seung Ri said softly and put a hand on his shoulder.
Thud-dud-dud.
Their eyes widened as they heard footsteps from the bedroom. As the doorknob turned and the door creaked open, everyone held their breath.
“Guys?” Jinki’s tired voice rang throughout the dorm. Upon seeing the three Big Bang members-most especially Seung Hyun-he raised his eyebrows and gulped.
Seung Ri put up the hand that was on Seung Hyun’s shoulder. “Hey, Jinki hyung. How are you?”
Jinki, unable to say a word to Seung Ri, kept his eyes on Big Bang’s rapper. “What are you…?”
“What am I doing here?” Seung Hyun suggested with a faint smile. “I saw your performance last night.”
Jinki looked down. “I suppose you saw the slip, too, right?”
Seung Hyun nodded. “Jong Hyun told us about your condition.”
“I…” SHINee’s leader inhaled deeply. “I’m feeling better, I guess. Just needed some more sleep.”
The rapper nodded. He was relieved that Jinki was okay, but he’d never voice it out loud-not with everyone else around, at least.
“Well,” Kibum spoke up. “Shall I make breakfast for everyone?”
Jong Hyun smiled at him. “Yes please. I’ll help if you want.” Still grinning, he followed Kibum to the kitchen.
Seung Ri’s widened. “Jong Hyun! Jong Hyun, wait!” He made a run for the kitchen, as if to keep Jong Hyun to himself.
Ji Yong, who kept silent all the while, glared at Seung Ri’s direction. “Since when have I been replaced?” he muttered and stormed after their Maknae.
Minho and Taemin looked at each other, amusement in their eyes.
“SHINee-Big Bang conflicts,” Minho said, chuckling.
“Jealousy conflicts, too!” Taemin added with a laugh. The two of them went back into the bedroom and closed the door, leaving Jinki and Seung Hyun alone in the living room.
The two were silent for a moment, then Jinki let out a loud sigh and plopped onto the couch. “That was an embarrassing slip, wasn’t it?”
Seung Hyun sat down beside him. “It couldn’t be helped,” he pointed out. “Are you sure you’re okay now?”
Jinki nodded. “I am, but I’ll be taking it slow for a few days.”
The older one nodded. “Jinki…”
Jinki turned his head to look at him. “Yes, hyung?”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t come any earlier. I wanted to come as soon as I saw your performance, but…”
The younger of the two smiled. “That’s all right, hyung. I’m just happy you visited today.”
Seung Hyun shook his head. “If we’re going to continue this… I can’t promise you that I’ll always be by your side.”
Jinki sighed inwardly. “I’m not asking you to make that promise.”
“But,” Seung Hyun continued, “If it makes anything better, I’ll be around to catch you whenever you fall.” He smiled warmly.
Jinki grinned. “Then maybe I should fall more often.” He closed his eyes and leaned against the older man’s shoulder, cherishing the promise.
~Epilogue~
“Yaaah!” Kibum screamed from the kitchen. “Watch the fire, Seung Ri!”
“I’m sorry, Kibum,” Seung Ri told him, not really meaning it.
“Are you okay?” Jong Hyun asked Kibum, taking his burnt arm under his care. “Come on, I’ll look for something for this.” He held Kibum’s hand and went back to the living room.
“Jong Hyun!” Seung Ri whined, following them. “I burnt my finger!”
“Stop whining, will you!” Ji Yong yelled at him. “I’m always here if you need care!”
“I want Jong Hyun!” The maknae pouted.
Ji Yong glared at him then smiled quite mischievously. “Jong Hyun, could you help me with the fire over here? I don’t know how to work with cooking oil.”
From inside the bedroom, Taemin and Minho heard all the commotion.
“Jealousy is a dangerous thing, right, hyung?” Taemin asked, rolling over in his bed to face the older one.
Minho nodded, keeping his eyes on the book in his hands. “That’s right.”
“Kibum!” They heard Seung Ri scream. “Get away from Jong Hyun!”
“Seung Ri-ah!” Ji Yong shouted. “Stop ignoring me!”
Taemin chuckled and closed his eyes.
“Taemin,” Minho called.
“Yeah?”
“Promise me you won’t find anyone else.” He said it as a joke, but Taemin found the deeper meaning in his words.
“Will you be jealous?” the younger chuckled.
Minho paused for a second. “Yes.”
AN: Yaaaay my first oneshot in how many days...! Okay, this was prompted by SHINee's recent performance of Juliette, where Onew-leedah took a little slip. Since I still love the ONTOP pairing, I decided to have it as the main for this, with JongRi, JongKey, G-Ri, and TaeMinho as subpairings. Yay for BBxSHINee!
“Omoooo!” Seung Ri was bawling his head off. Big Bang’s youngest took SHINee’s lead by the shoulders and started shaking him with wide eyes. “What happened?”
“Seung Ri, Seung Ri,” Jong Hyun tried to say, his voice shaking. “Calm down!”
Seung Ri looked down at his feet and let go of Jong Hyun’s shoulders. “Sorry, Jong Hyun.”

Seung Hyun sat down beside him. “It couldn’t be helped,” he pointed out. “Are you sure you’re okay now?”
Jinki nodded. “I am, but I’ll be taking it slow for a few days.”
The older one nodded. “Jinki…”
Jinki turned his head to look at him. “Yes, hyung?”

Jinki grinned. “Then maybe I should fall more often.” He closed his eyes and leaned against the older man’s shoulder, cherishing the promise.
