Damn it. Damn it, damn it, damn it. This is ridiculous.
Let It Die was a horrible idea. It really was. I'm realizing that, now.
I want to do this right but it's not easy. I hadn't realized just how much I was going to have to change in order for the plot to work out the way I want/need it to.
Hozuki Suigetsu is an absolute bastard. I thought Genma was being difficult, but he's got nothing on freaking Suigetsu. You'd think it would be easy, given his relatively vague history, but no. Of course not. I think I know what I'm going to do, but I'm not positive it will work. His character is not so easy to pin down, which makes it more difficult.
And Kisame . . . Don't even get me started on Hoshigaki Kisame. I was perfectly happy thinking he was a bloodthirsty thug. Research tells me that's not fair. He's got more depth than that. Theoretically, this means my changes to Suigetsu's history will work out better than I'd thought they would. In practice, I'm not so sure. We'll see, I guess.
But hey! Chapter 11 is almost complete. That's good, right?
