Title: I Love You, Baka
Well, uh, it’s just another Monday for some people. February 14 was just another day for her-it has been her perception for several years but it’s not applicable for today. It’s just so different, everything had changed. From the time she took her slumber the night before up to her usual routine that day. Excitement flows to her every pore.
Thought with sleepy eyes, she managed to pull herself out of her bed. This wasn’t part of her routine-waking so early as 4am. Smile was plastered on her face when she took a glimpse on her calendar. Yosh, time to work. And she dashed out of her room.
**
She arrived on the school the usual time. She doesn’t want to be controversy; she doesn’t anyone to recognize her that day. Like the usual scenario she always see in the morning, everyone is in commotion-especially the girls. Full of confidence, she knew the reason behind it-the date today.
As she walked down the hallway, she witnessed an interesting event that grabbed her out of her boredom. She’ll be witnessing a confession.
“Anoo…” A petite girl, seemingly a freshman student, uttered.
A tall guy looked at the girl, a slight blush painted his cheeks. “Kinomoto-san, why?”
The girl stayed silent for seconds, her eyes tightly closed. After letting go a deep sigh, she faced him bravely, with both of her hands extended which holds a red box wrapped with a ribbon knotted beautifully. “K-Kirishima-san, I l-like you!”
Shocked covered the face of the tall guy. “A-Arigatou, Kinomoto-san, demo,” he bowed to her, “Gomenasai!”
Tears filled the girl’s cute eyes yet she still gave him her warm smile. “It’s okay.” And off the girl went.
“The hell.” She hissed and continued her journey to her classroom.
But deep inside her, fear made its way to invade her. That scene gave her chill; she is slowly engulfed by her own fear.
Okay, she hate confession, every bit of it. Mushy confession is the last thing she wanted to receive in her life. Why? It gave her creeps, for goodness’ sake! And no one just know how happy she is for not having an oh-so creepy confession from anyone. Not that no one likes her. As a matter of fact, a lot of guys, not to mention, good looking guys, had showed interest on her. Girls get jealous of her and hell she cares. There’s nothing to be jealous about. About those guys, they just disappeared.
“Hey!” That familiar baritone voice made her heart skipped a beat, it surprised her. “What’s up!”
“Damn you! Don’t scare the hell out of me!” She mockingly hit him on his arm. “Jeez, you’re sending me to death.”
He laughed and she just hissed. “Sorry, sorry.”
When they entered their room, she then witnessed another set of confession. But unlike the first one, it got a good result. She smiled from her heart.
**
School bell rang indicating the end of classes for that day. She fixed all her things inside her bag. As she was putting them inside, her hand touched a box. She gave it a look and nervousness climbed through her.
“Are you going home?” the baritone voice came again.
Fast as lighting, she zipped her bag. “Actually, I was going to ask you to accompany me.” She gave him a smile.
“Whe-”
“You’re going with me whether you like it or you like it.” She chuckled.
As they were walking on the streets of Tokyo, her heart never got tired to beating so hard. Crap. She never got so nervous like this is her entire life. But what more can she do? It will be her first time doing the thing she never ever wanted to have.
“Ne, don’t ever laugh at me after I have done my business. Promise me that.” She said, clasping her hands.
He titled his head when he looked at her, smiling sheepishly. “What are you going to do, huh?”
She hissed. “Just make that promise or else, I’ll kill you.” She threatened him which she followed with a laugh.
“Okay.” He chuckled. “Ne, it’s valentines day today.”
Shoot. “And so?”
He laughed again at her, and honestly, she loves it. “Aren’t you going to confess to someone and tell them that you are head over heels with them?”
Her eyes widened. “Are you out of your mind?!”
“Do you really have a heart?” He giggled softly. “You’re hard as stone. I never heard that you are or have been in love to anyone.”
She gave him a sarcastic laugh. “And looks who’s talking? The guy that never had a single girlfriend in his entire life is now criticizing my lifeless love life.”
He laughed out loud and stretched his hand to pinch her nose. “Don’t mingle with my life!” He coughed. “Actually, I have someone dear to me, you know. And I love her.”
Bam. She felt something that gripped her heart. But she dismissed it immediately. “Really! I thought you’re a gay!” Laughter immediately followed.
“You’re so mean!” He pouted making her laugh even more. “How about you? I know you got someone, too, right?”
“I am a stone right?” She rolled her eyes. “Of course I do have! And I am now planning to confess to him.” She felt her cheeks burning at the moment.
His cute eyes widened and his mouth left opened. A glint of distress, she saw it on his eyes-or was it just her imagination? Probably, just her imagination.
“What the! You’re confessing to someone and you’re tagging me along?!” They stopped their track.
“You should be there or else I can’t make it!” She shouted back.
“And why should I be there? Am I the one confessing?”
She rolled her eyes. “You already promi-”
“You forced me tha-”
“Shhhh!” She immediately covered his mouth and pulled him behind the tree.
“What the hell are you doing now?!”
“Shhhh! Shut up! He’s here!” She said and looked from behind that tree. He followed her sight and saw familiar figure.
“I had a lot of fun today, thanks!” the person she’s watching from afar said. She’s with a girl, her friend actually.
“I had a lot of fun too! Thanks to you also.” The girl smiled sweetly.
“I’ll take you home.” The guy presented, holding unto the girl’s hand. “I don’t want to let my girlfriend go home alone.”
“Awww.” She murmured. “It hurts.” She joked.
He then faced her. “You know what, I am irritated like hell at this moment! You’re planning to confess to him, right? Well, so unlucky for you that he already got his girl. And now, i’ll be leaving you here ‘cos I don’t want to see you hurt.” She gave him a puzzled look. He hissed. “You’re really insensitive, right?! I don’t want to see you hurt because I am feeling the same!” that’s it. After having his monologue, he walked away from her, leaving her speechless.
“What was that? I’ll be doing what to whom, he said. I am not confessing to any other guy but to him, right?! Jeez, so moron!” Irritated, she gathered her strength and shouted. “I love you, baka!” Extremely mad about what had happened, she’ll go opposite the direction he went through.
But even before her foot moved an inch, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her. “What did you just say?”
Tears immediately blurred her sight. “Nothing important, baka.”
“It’s important for me, baka.” He rested his chin on his shoulder. “Let me hear it again, please?” He whispered.
“Don’t want.”
He loosened his hug to her, held her by her shoulder and pulled her gently to face him. He looked deep in her eyes. “Say it again.”
Rolling his eyes. “I love you, Kento!” She gave him the box of chocolate she made earyl this mornig. He smiled. “Happy?”
With wide smile, he gathered her in his arms and pulled her to his embrace. “I love you, too, Yui.”
