Meanwhile on Chronicles: Legends of Runescape
Chronicle: Legends of Runescape moved to open beta, so if I got you into the closed beta, you'll have to reinstall and do the tutorial again, but your account will still exist. And if I didn't get you into the closed beta, you can sign up for the open beta! :D
What has changed: Ozan's "Snap Shot" is banned (THANK YOU JAGEX), there's now a mechanic to bypass armor (Ariane's "Wind Strike" uses it), and Vanescula Drakan "The Vampyre" is a playable character... I'm not sure how I feel about that last one, I would have expected another Signature Hero character-- Xenia "The Mentor" or Sir Owen/Sir Ewain "The Temple Knight". Maybe Zanik, if I could think of a title for her. Definitely would not have expected Vanescula as a player character.
ETA: Okay, Vanescula actually plays really well. I'm rather peeved that she's the best-looking of the Chronicle playables, partly because RS vampires have "butterface" as a racial trait (so she really SHOULDN'T look good) and partly because everyone else (well, except Raptor) still looks awfully off-model. And now when you're playing, your opponent's player character is sitting across from you at the virtual table so you get to watch their giant pixel face as well as the game... gah.
On the other hand, I am still super pleased that all the female playables dress reasonably in Chronicle, and mildly annoyed that they didn't dress so well in RS canon-- Ariane the mage got a halfway decent robe/longcoat/thing for Chronicle instead of a cocktail dress, Linza the blacksmith is no longer baring her arms and midriff (you would think she'd know better!), and even Vanescula who has the best excuse for not wearing armor is wearing a ball gown with an armored bodice, as opposed to her canon... eyesore. I'm not even sure how to describe it.
