I have no idea why I did this...

[Somewhere on the streets of Satellite a heap of trash (mostly old cardboard boxes and bits of paper) shifts slightly. A low groan audible from somewhere underneath as whoever is in there works on digging herself out.]

I took the corner too fast this time, didn't I?

[And with one last sigh Aki struggles to her feet, wiping dirt and muddy slush ( Read more... )

[She might hear a slight chuckle echoing through the street. Yusei has been hiding in the shadows of the alley, has watched her pick herself and the bike up and he finds this a very, very amusing picture. As much as he cursed the island for holding him and his brothers captive, he couldn't praise it enough for delivering him his favourite Signer, especially when she seemed to ready herself for their duel. Because nothing amuses him more than riling up Izayoi and making sure that she and her powers would be at their strongest when the time for their fight came.]

I'd say, you still need some practice, Izayoi~

Yusei?...

[She turns slightly towards the sound of his voice her eyes widening as she gets a good look at him and everything, the eyes, the red mark curling down his cheek, registers. Fighting not to fall back a step even as her fingers convulsively tighten on the bike's handlebars. This is impossible. Granted, here surroundings alone are impossible but this is even *more* impossible and she struggles to speak around the sudden dryness in her throat. Her voice tight when it finally comes out.]

Yusei... how? How are you?... You can't be.....

[For a moment he feels disappointment, his Aki had found out by now just where his allegiances lay; she wouldn't react in shock. However the pure and utter terror on her face and in her voice is enough to redeem that; it is such a lovely expression after all, one that he cannot see often enough. He folds his arms and tilts his head slightly, playfully.]

Why shouldn't I be, Izayoi. After all, it's thanks to you~

No. [She gives her head a shake, forcing her voice to steady, as she stares at him.] It's impossible. The Dark Signers are gone. It was over, Yusei. We beat them. There's no way....

You can't be like this.

[He raises a surprised eyebrow, though the smirk on his face doesn't really change. Had they failed in one world? … Though considering Izayois words, he most likely wasn't Dark Signer in her world.]

They must have followed the old mans plan then. I assure you, my brothers and I operate quite differently. It won't be quite as easy to get rid of us.

Your brothers? [There are more? And the fact that he calls them his brothers leaves a frozen lump in her stomach. The only people Yusei calls his brothers are...] God, no....

[Quickly she gives her head another shake. Lifting her chin defiantly as she shoots Yusei a glare. Now that the shock is wearing off it just seems that much more impossible. She's either unconsious or this is some sort of a trick. That's the only explanation.]

This isn't real. I don't know what's going on, but you're not Yusei. You can't be.

[He chuckles again, amused by Akis attempts to ignore the reality in front of her.]

Oh, but I am. Though you are making me curious now; what is the me in your world like? Is he Signer?

He is. [She shifts a bit, setting the kickstand on her bike so her hands will be free, just in case. Although since she's without her duel disc at the moment and since her bike is a simple practice model without a proper duel panel, her options for defense are limited.] He's also the only Yusei there is. I'm not sure what trick you're trying to play at, but it would have worked better if you weren't showing me something completely impossible.

[And now she's got him to outright laugh at her.]

You truly have no idea where you are, don't you, Izayoi?

[Her frown just deepens at being laughed at.] Satellite, as near as I can tell. Although it shouldn't look like this. Maybe I'm just dreaming you. I did crash.

[He keeps chuckling; he finds this all very entertaining after all.]

No dream, Izayoi. Though I'll gladly become your personal nightmare if you want me to. And even if you don't want me to~

You can try. [Her spine stiffens a bit and oh, but she's wishing she had her duel disc right now.] And you'll just fail. I'm certainly not about to run from some false Dark Signer.

False, you say? Do you really think so? [His maniac expression changes into a calmer, more predatory one as he releases some of the dark power inside him; just enough for both of their marks to start glowing, and he hears the dark god in the back of his mind hiss in pleasure and anticipation as the whale birthmark shoot pulses painfully.]

But nevertheless, I certainly look forward to facing you and I expect this to be a most exceptional duel. Don't disappoint, Izayoi~

[She hisses, her hand reflexively moving to cover her own birthmark in response. It's not possible. It can't be possible. But he really does *feel* like a Dark Signer, as strange as this is.]

It will be, although you do have me at a bit of a disadvantage. [She spreads her hands, indicating her complete lack of disc at the moment.] Or are you underhanded enough to attack me while I'm defenseless.

[He shakes his head, mock-scolding her.] Who said anything about dueling right now, my dear? Battling you now on that half-finished bike would be absolutely pointless. Not to mention boring~

How terribly kind of you. I suppose this means I have something to look forward to, then.
