Death and Vi

Apr 25, 2007 13:51

Watching and waiting, that’s how it always is, isn’t? Whether it was on a roof (like he was now), in a club, or even in bed, it’s always watching and waiting.

Taking a drag from his clove cig, he watched the slightly older man of the house-hold chase a butterfly in the park.

He was such a mystery to him since he was older but was completely innocent. Except for when he was his other self.

Gun flinched at the memory of last night before taking another drag from the black cylindar. Last night was painful for him, a little too painful. Yet, there he was, being cute and innocent without a flipping care in the whole.

He watched him pounce on the poor butterfly, and watching Vi begin to open his hands just to start sniffling. He had killed it when he pounced on it.

With a sigh, Gun put out the clove and went back into the house to go down to the ground.

“Vi…?” He said as he opened the back door to the back yard.

Of course the older man looked up at him with fresh flowing tears going down his cheeks. Gun got ready to be run into and be cried on again but it never came.

Vi just looked down at the beautiful crushed butterfly in his hands and whimpered.

“It…it won’t move…”

“It’s dead hon…put it down and come here.”

“No! If, if she’s dead…she needs to be with her family…”

Gun just stared at him. It hadn’t occurred to him that the death of such a small thing would affect him so much. He really was the opposite at times of his other self.

Walking over to him, he watched him carefully. He might run if Gun didn’t get over to him in time.

Appearing behind Vi, he hugged him around his chest and held him tight. That’s when the waterfall of tears came from the older man’s face.

“Shh…it’s okay hon, it’s okay. Put her down where she can rest and go on flying about invisibly. She’ll be happy if you do.”

With a nod, he gently pulled away from Gun and walked over to the only tree in their yard. After placing a kiss upon the beautiful creature he crushed with his playing, he place it gingerly at the base of the tree.

“Come on, we’ll go get some ice cream. I’ll even let you get three scoops this time.”

“Okay…” Vi replied as they started walking out of the back yard and into the city.

Death was always a horrible thing but then why did it not bother him? Is he just to use to watching and waiting? This was something Gun had to muse over later, now it was time for ice cream and cheering up of the other man.
