FanExpo

Went today, had shit loads of fun, as always. Frank and Domee had a table, said I said hi; their art is gorgeous and infinitely better than mine, as always.

Picked up two poster-sized Bleach prints by Kevin Yan (graduated from the Animation program at my school). As soon as I laid eyes on the Rukia print, I knew it had to be mine. Beyond the fact that she's my favourite character (partly because of her gorgeous Zanpaku-to), the fanart itself was easily the best I'd ever seen done of her character. (She has an inherently 'harsher' aesthetic to design than most anime heroines, as she's not pretty-pretty-bouncy-boobs-boobs-boobs. This makes her a tad harder to draw, and do justice too IMO)

Anyway, here's the print I got. ISN'T IT SO FUCKING PRETTY?

I also picked up his Byakuya one, which I don't love as much, but hey it was 2 beautifully painted, poster sized prints for 25 bucks. How could I pass that up?

I also picked up a massive Mokona plushie for my desk in the studio this year. Ashley got the black variant, while I got the usual white one. Needless to say it's so adorable, it makes your brain hurt. XD ~ Topping off the buys, I snagged Battle Cry: The Art of Samurai Champloo, and you guys? I almost died of OMFGGGGG. The production value of that anime is so high, it makes my brain hurt. I love all the background art, character designs, animation, and just everything about it. So, naturally, I had to have it.

How could this day get any better, you ask? I'll tell you. Adam Hughes was in the building. My absolute favourite comic book artist of all time, and one of my biggest sources of inspiration. And guys? I ATTENDED HIS DIGI-PAINTING DEMO.

To be honest, the demo wasn't amazing 'cause of technical difficulties (the FanExpo staff couldn't find the cable to attach his laptop to the screen, so it had to be held under an overhead projector while he attempted to use a mouse, with the screen he was working from at an awkward 45 degree angle.) Yeah. Either way, I still learned a cool new technique that I'm dyyying to try out once I get back to school (and photoshop). Also, he is so down to earth and has the greatest sense of humor ever, he spent the whole time cracking jokes and I almost died lawlzing. I hadn't known he was going to be attending, and when I first saw his booth I froze and clutched ph00's arm so hard that I left marks. XD ~

A few final points to note: Played Soul Calibur 4 at their booth, got a 14-day demo of WoW that I'm hesitant to try, got checked out by a couple of cute boys which was shocking and rather pleasant all at once, and there was one Nurse Joker cosplay we saw (who was a girl, but whatever) and that totally made my day 1000000% more complete.

So, that was my day. Excuse me while I collapse from SHEER FUCKING JOY.

(Also, Lauren, Sabrina, and nee-chan, I didn't see you guys anywhere today? Did you guys end up going?)
