WARNING!!! GROSS PICTURES!! :)
So, this weekend was a whilrwind of emotions and stress. Mom had planned to do a garden for our Nana, who passed away in Feb. It was something she would have found great joy in, and it would be pretty, and very reminiscent of Nana. So, My aunt, uncle and cousin came from Va. Chris and his wife came from northern NH. Then Kate and kids and Laura M. came at the last minute. It was really nice to hang out with the gang, we really missed Eric alot, but had some good talks, and Chris, Sara, Mike, Katie and I went out to eat, and it was a blast.
Sunday afternoon was the planned time for the Garden planting. We got the various elements together, Nana's cast Iron bird bath, Plants picked out by several people, a bird statue, a plaque that read Nana, and a Celtic Cross. The idea was to plant, then have a small service with music, readings memories, and such.
After we planned it all out, we called on the guys to come break ground. Oh man, did they ever! My parents built a fire pit in the backyard this spring. The children are regularly warned to avoid it, since it is made of large jagged rocks and chunks of slate. Somehow, HAZMatt missed the memo, and proceeded to JUMP over it. Yuh, he didn't make it. Landed one foot, and the other i hear, kinda dragged across the jagged rocks and slate. At which point he grabbed his leg and claimed, "That kinda Hurt!"
I come out to the site of Matt on the ground with Sara P holding up his leg, While my Veterinary cousin butterflies the wound, and Mike hovers in the background calling 911. It was BAD! An EMT came, checked him out, and Mike drove to the hospital. We finished planting, ate lunch, did the service, and ate desert, and waited for news from the boys.
Matt came back, in on crutches, with pain meds, it was a crazy amount of stitches, maybe 40ish? The doctor lost count putting them inside and outside the leg. She even diagramed the injury on the chart so she could show off later. LOL.
So, the service was great, Matt is on crutches, in alot of pain, and NOW all the kids KNOW to stay away from the fire pit! LOL
This is the Gruesome evidence
This is how Chris bandaged it up Pre-EMT.
THIS is what it looked like before the doc sewed it up. UGH! Nearly to the bone.
