Bossa Novice

Nov 26, 2008 20:10

Today is a good day! In chronological order: Nice morning slacking about, indulged in some sushi at noon, attended a pretty awesome practice session (lots of fun, and we got things done too, gasp!), lazed about some more, read a bit of The Odyssey because my current project of Milton's Paradise Lost is too difficult, took a stroll and I am now in a dim room listening to bossa nova standards. Everyday should be like that. Tomorrow will be - I predict- very ineffecient rehearsals and I like rehearsals! from the fashionably late stroll-in (to avoid sound checks and you know everything will start late so might as well be the problem than tolerate it), to the last minute mental run-through-the-song-with-equally-ill-prepared-bandmates, to the long periodic waits to while the afternoon away, to the indulgence in silly distracting small talk, to the sounding off of small-minded disapproving criticism or grudging admiration of the other performances, to the expression of phony outrage at the scatter-brainness of those damn junior couuuuncillors and all!

BTW, you are reading this blog for free! Tried to access Bowie's blog but was reminded that it is a members- only privillege. Too cheap/ sensible to fork out US$67 just to read his ghostwriter's notes. I mean, come on, I'm quite sure he did not write that shit.
