I suppose it's trolling after all
Lately I am getting into johnny's again, if ever so slightly. Well, enough to download KT's newest album and actually give it a listen. I find it a good excuse to tease, or troll, or whatever you wish to call it, anyway to share my opinion about all their singles to date. I wanna see if there's a pattern JE uses to market them cleverly hidden in the oh-so-shaky balance of cool and crappy. Now, isn't it fascinating?
1. Real Face - cool, what else
2. Signal - unexpected but cool. Say what you may, I like it
2.5 YOU - I love it and I wish it had been properly released as a single
3. Bokura no machi de - things like that have to happen for that dramas are almighty. made me sad for a while but Ueda's long gay sweater made up for it
4. Yorokobi no uta - simplicity brought to a whole new level. I felt a bit retarded for actually liking it after several plays (and a shot or two)
5. Keep the Faith - honestly expected more. I keep forgetting how this track even went on
6. Lips - can't say it's cool only because it's made of hot. It has nonsensical lyrics for most part, but who cares?
7. Don't U Ever Stop - a bit of whatever mixed with Akanishi getting on my nerves
8. White X'mas - wrong on so many levels. plus stoned Akanishi having trips with golden Santa
9. One Drop - o_o ... >_< ... BWAHAHAHAHA! no, really, the video was so overwhelming I actually can't remember the song that came with it.
10. Rescue - what was that again? ah, Maru needed a song for his drama
11. Love Yourself (Kimi ga kirai na kimi ga suki) - s**t sounds like a bad anison it was... kinda wrong
12. Going - Either somebody felt artistically castrated after losing Akanishi or tried to copy Arashi. Either way - you're doing it wrong
12.5 No more pain - I should say "much better" but I keep making fun of this song. And video. Oh, the video! XD
13. Change Ur World - Mortal Kombat music meets retro metal meets JE. I need far more alcohol before I can pose an opinion.
14. Ultimate Wheels - It's actually not a half-bad track. More stuff like this, and we can keep going
15. White - can't make up my mind. I like it because it's so johnny's and it could be Takki&Tsubasa's song. I don't like it because it should be Takki&Tsubasa's song. Or HSJ's. I hope they made it so that some squeaky cutesy shokura juniors could cover it while dancing around in pink oversized suits.
16. Run For You - hated it since the first notes. It felt as if disco polo made it to Japan. It still does. But I developed a sick soft spot for that song that I can't explain.
17. Birth - well, not bad, maybe even good, but overshadowed by Star Rider that I simply love for no particular reason. Maybe save for that it should have and probably would have been NEWS' song were NEWS still around. Bad johnny's disco equals sugar high. Yes, I adore Hadashi no Cinderella Boy, how did you know?
18. Lock On - finally cool again. Please, feed the Swede some candyfloss, he/she has earned it.
I failed to see any pattern. I'm a bit disappointed, I expected an evil distortion of chaos theory to emerge halfway through the list. Smarter people, please give me hints.
