hairdressers once more

the differences between Polish and Japanese hairdressers, at least in my humble experience.

in Poland:

you: ...please just trim the endings, don't cut off more than 5 cm
hairdresser: ah, yes, yes...
*after cutting*
you: are you sure you cut off only 5 cm? cause it looks like 10 to me!
hairdresser: well, maybe it's around 7... but that's only because of the layers!
you: and who ever asked for layers?! (T_T)
hairdresser: *sounding as if it was totally insane of you to even come to the salon if you didn't want layers* what do you mean? it's in right now, very fashionable! everybody has them! and they look so good on you too!
you: ... *should have explicitly told her I DIDN'T want them... and hope she'd listen*

in Japan:

you: ...please just trim the endings, don't cut off more than 5 cm
hairdresser: ah, yes
you: on a second thought no, take 10.
hairdresser: are you sure?..
you: yes I'm sure
hairdresser: and you won't regret it?..
you: I won't.
hairdresser: Your hair will only reach here after I cut! *shows the length*
you: yes, I know. it's summer, my head feels heavy and hot, please cut it, pretty please?
hairdresser: alright... should I apply layers?
you: yes, I have wavy hair so..
hairdresser: ah, perm!
you: ...no, natural waves. And if you apply layers it will curl more.
hairdresser: then maybe I shouldn't do that?
you: no, please, I like it this way.
hairdresser: *reluctantly ok...
*after cutting*
you: *she did cut it, but... are the layers not there at all or, like, 1cm deep?*

above there are simply two isolated cases that have actually happened to me. not saying all Polish hairdressers are by rule self-willed, or that all Japanese ones dislike cutting hair... ;)
...but out of the two, which would you prefer?
