I've had a great last couple days. But at the moment I want to bitch so, excuse me a moment.

I am currently at my job doing pre-game for Rochester Red Wings, the local triple-a baseball team. This would be fine, I like doing Red Wings games. *BUT* I have to do a Yankees game after. I don't know if you've ever watched a MLB game on television before but the amount of breaks media takes is a pain in the fucking ass. And on top of all that, I have to pay enough attention to catch every other one as well as all the top of the hour drops. All I end up doing is waiting for the right time to push the right button and then wait. Also, this game is on the west coast which means it'll be about 2am here when it'll be finally over. Would be fine... if I didn't have a flight to catch at 6:20am and still need to pack and I was really really pushing to get this costume done with everything I had planned for it on it and secure and it simply isn't done. And there's nothing I can do about it cause I'm now stuck here.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU............

*sneezes*

My allergies have also been apparent daily. But that's about right for the season, so that really doesn't bother me. My elbow hurts, but I'll get to that in a little bit.

Friday, after I got out of work at noon after working 'til 2am earlier that day, I got home and packed up for four days out of town. Saw my mother off to the cottage. Almost forgot to bring my pillow and sleeping bag. The former was needed while the latter wasn't. Nice drive down to cousin's camp. I have to say, as soon as I stepped out of my car and started walking over to see everyone I took a big breath and it just hit a warm spot in me. There's nothing like being in an area with no cellphone reception, lots of trees and a little bit of water. Socialized and ate with everyone. This was a large annual (this was the fourth) weekend party my cousins (Amy and now Pat as he's definitely part of the family now, Tom and David too) put together at their family camp down in the southerntier. Drank a little too. Played a great game of flip cup on a very uneven table and on the guy's team, not like there wasn't a guy on the girl's team. Slept, got up and pretty much repeated what I did before just adding in my awesome raspberry fresca concoction and a dip in the ponds. I got a little bit of a sunburn too. I couldn't stay up with everyone as much as I had the night before cause my body just didn't want any more so I called it an early night and went to bed.

Next morning (Sunday now), got up, helped clean up, breakfast and was out the door to take 17 over to the cottage. I realized I was going the wrong way at one point when I saw I went through two towns that weren't on my route. I eventually got to the cottage and got to hang out with my mother. Got a much needed jump in the lake to rinse off and wash my hair. It's been a while since I've seen so much seaweed in the lake. Went up to see Grandma and saw my mother off again as she headed home and I headed out to help out with tech for Phoneix CMR's event Monday and Tuesday at Watkins Glen. The event is owned by a friend of my father's and this is the first time I've been able to go to the event and help out whenever possible. So that night I helped to check brake lights and put the numbers on the cars... and there were some nice cars. Headed back to the cottage and went up to visit Grandma again with Dan, Danielle and Dad. She made a great blueberry-rhubarb pie. I've really got to get her recipe for her pies. Off to bed and up bright and early (5am) and out the door early enough to wake up/bang on a friend's RV door and wait for the track to open up. Helped out with the paperwork and helped double checking cars as they went out. Stood with my father down in the pit lane where he's better known as Black Flag Bob. This event is very well managed and special attention is made to safety and if a driver does something wrong they're called in and told what they did and taken off the track if they have to be called in a couple times. It didn't happen this time. Before lunch I got to ride with one of the instructors (who are the only people allowed to have passengers other than the students, though the instructors are the only ones who can be the passengers), Joe. He's got a nice older Camero in primer black. He had been having problems with overheating so we were only out there for a couple laps and got stuck in a full course black flag restart. It was very cool and I'm so much of a dork. I got teary-happy in that first sweeping turn as we got out of pit lane, which I also did the first time I heard all those different cars roaring out. It also took me a little bit of time to adjust back to normal from that ride. Lunchtime and I nabbed a ride with the event owner's son, Andy in his track-only Mustang, fox body, white and blue. I stayed out there for the whole session and I was happy for that seat belt. He's a madman. Such a good ride but I admit to gripping that roll bar the whole time. I also rode a bit better learning that looking ahead like you're driving is a good thing. Had a very nice dinner with a lot of the drivers that night. Very good seafood pasta, mudslide for dessert (I really need to stop liking expensive alcoholic things) and it was fun listening to the guys talk. Got to know a friend of the family's son (He and his father are both Johns) and he and his father came back to the lake to say hello to my grandmother and nab some cookies and my car for the ride back to their RV. Headed to bed.

Next morning up not as early and was at the track before pretty much anyone and waited and helped with the second day's paperwork. Helped out owner's daughter, Wendy again checking cars as they ran out and watching from the pit with my father. This time I got to nab a ride in one of the coolest cars on the track, a Ford GT, which there were three there. Very smooth ride. A very comfortable car. I didn't even think over the fact that the engine was behind me. We were about in the last couple turns of the track when a pair of BMWs pretty much blocked him and forced him to slow down because they didn't signal to pass. Jerks. Got past them but not much more than that because the track went under a yellow then black flag. It was a very nice ride though. If only I won the lottery... several times. Had lunch and made a point to pester one of the guys I ate with the night before for a ride in his silver Corvette. He asked if it was okay that I was riding in a GMC product, I was wearing my Ford shirt. Another smooth ride ("I like when girls call me smooth" - driver). I had to recover a little bit from that one cause I was out for a while. He was pretty funny over the headset, which I had for both rides that day. It finally did rain towards the end of the last session. It didn't keep raining thankfully but it rained enough to do a little damage. Mainly to me. I wandered over to where the Johns (the aforementioned family friend and son) pulled their RV in along with my car. I was going over to visit them as the rain finally rolled over the hill. I asked if he had left the driver-side window open... and it was so I ran in the rain over through the garage to our car to get my keys where I left them and as I was running back, fully drenched at this point. As I turn around and start running back I notice that they're closing the closest door in the garage so I run faster as they slow down to let me in. As soon as I hit the cement, now covered in rain I go flying. Lucky for me I fell right. I wish someone had caught it on film cause it was just right. That's why my elbow hurts a little. I grew sore as the day went on. Helped clean up, said goodbye, though I don't think I said thank you near enough, and headed back to the cottage. Headed home and waited patiently for missing potato wedges at KFC. Home. Some Warehouse 13, which I should watch. Bed.

Here's some pictures from that event at the track. Camero, Mustang, Ford GT and Corvette respectively. I don't think the photographer was out when I was in the Camero, but you can see me in the passenger seat of these guys. And that shot of the GT, the driver was a little irritated at that and another BMW making him slow down in his turns.

Today, ever since I got up I've been working on the costume for Blizzcon (yes, that's what it's for) and thanks to my mother it'll be pretty much done since she was working on it along side me. I have to think of a good way to thank her. All I can think of is calling the local florist to get something sent to her tomorrow. Any other suggestions?

I started writing this entry at about 6:45pm, it's now 10:16pm. Red Wings won 5-1 and now Yankees are on. Now to get through the rest of this game. Eight more hours until I'm on a plane and on my way to California. Oh, told Andy and John about going to Blizzcon and they both chuckled at me a little since they used to play. I'll be excited once I get on the plane. But, I'll also be at the point of passing out from exhaustion.

woot!, mmm alcohol, trips, radio, zomg, work, dream, rant, warcraft, ramble, vehicle
