Comments: You'd think with how much I love CCS (it's one of the first anime I ever got into), that I would have written more. Anyway, written for the annual spook_me fic-a-thon challenge. As much as I write horror for this challenge, I couldn't do that to Sakura-chan.
The beast stood as tall as a house and looked like something from a nightmare. It gave a keening noise as walked down the night-dark streets of Tomoeda. Some blinds and curtains moved slightly as scared residents looked out, searching for the source of the noise but too frightened to turn on lights or openly look out.
The ground behind the beast slowly disintegrated into a sandy slurry that gave off a noxious gas, felling any creatures that came within ten feet.
Sakura flew overhead, following the creature. Two nights ago, she dreamed of its coming. The dream diverged from there down two possible paths. Tragedy and destruction for one path. Redemption and peace for the other.
The beast's pain and anguish resonated through her heart. She knew, knew that the decision she made now would determine the path taken. She knew that if it did not find peace tonight, it would bring destruction and misery upon the world. If she did not do the right thing, if she failed to do what was needed, terror would walk the world.
Taking a deep breath, Sakura said her most powerful spell, "Everything will be all right." Then she flew ahead of the creature and landed in front of the beast, decision made and future decided.
