I nearly spontaneously combusted from excitement even before I was out of the pre-registration line this year. My friends (
sunderkitty, her fiance, D and J) will vouch for that. First, they didn't mind me cutting behind them and the people behind them didn't mind me joining with my friends. Secondly, I don't get my friend near enough, so I was awesome to join right up with them. Then things got even better when I discovered that the line (now snaking back and forth), crossed paths with
fyliwionvilyaer every few minutes. ^^ Those were some fast conversations. Heh.
After pre-reg, we met up with more friends from college. N's opinion of being in the navy was a hoot. XD Took J up to the dealers' room (I think she would have spent all her time in one area if I hadn't told her the fine art of surfing the con first, then buying). I snagged vol. 58-61 of Detective Conan for myself and a sweet silk haori (for $35!). After that, I was ambused by
yume_no_kage by the registration desk. I'm still sad I didn't see her again after that. TT Some time in the afternoon, I met up with
yosho and got him to the hotel room.
The Versallies concert (did I spell that correctly?) was loud. If it had been taken down a few more notches, it would have been more enjoyable. I rather like rock in general just not at those volumes. I enjoyed watching friends enjoy the concert. And I got to meet up with the unforgettable, smexy
ceramic_chicken. She made the untimate sacrifice of sleep by working 8 hours, going to concerts, translating all night at the after concert party and then going back to work for 8 hours. With no sleep. That's amazing.
Honestly, I spent most of Saturday thinking about and preparing for the Cosplay Contest. I went on as a walk on. ^^ However, I'm sad that my stage fright prevented me from staying up there for very long. I really wanted to stay up there for the full 30 seconds. I even planned too but once I got up there, I found that I couldn't stay up there very long. TT Maybe if I can talk people into doing a skit someother year, I'll find it easier to be on stage. I really liked fyli's walk-on cosplay group. I loved the anamophized Mokonas and I'm still in awe of those wings.
I didn't spend all day getting ready for the cosplay contest. I actually managed to find
jeva_chanand
atoli at the Phoenix Wright photoshoot. Yay! But for some reason I thought that jeva was cosplaying as Emma from Phoenix Wright and atoli was the one doing it. Um, yeah, I'm a little embarrassed by that. At least atoli knew who I was talking about and pointed to the tall girl behind her. Yeah, candy? You missed a fun photoshoot. Don't worry, though, I took lots of pictures. And I found a
Kaitou Kid cosplayer! I'd brought my cosplay in case I got in the mood for it but was too busy to consider it.
And I must not forget about scaoll. I found her one time and managed to lose her. Oops. Fortunately, she found me again before the cosplay contest. Somehow, I missed
sesca3 all together. *sniff* It woulda been nice to see her, too.
Sunday, well, I was pretty much dead. Heh. I haven't been that worn out from a con since my... second one, I think. I suppose that getting up at 5:30 am and leaving for the con at 6 am on Friday was part of it. I did prowl the dealers room again, finding two awesome Revoltech figures from Patlabor, and sat at a random panel with yosho (a panel on drawing and publishing manga). The drive home wasn't so fun 'cause of a headache but it did go away by bed, so, it was tolerable (though, if I was tolerable to be around is another story).
One thing I'm glad I did Sunday was preregister for next year. Heh. New record for me.
Without further ado, the links to my photos:
Day 1Day 2Day 3 Photos of friends, random stuff, and stuff I don't think should be readily available will be up under an f-locked entry sometime (today, hopfully, but we'll see, I still need to do unpacking and cleaning up).
EDIT: Fixed messed up photo link.
EDIT 2: It keeps messing up on me. Will keep trying to fix it.
