Ancestory naming question

If people whose ancestors are the native people of the Americas are considered to be "Native Americans," does that mean, with my ancestory from Europe that I'm a "Native European?"  ^_^

What about people whose ancestory comes from Africa or Asia?  Shouldn't they be called "Native Africans" or "Native Asians?"  Natives of Australia are called Aboriginies (I may be misspelling that).

We seriously need a better term to describe people who were in the Americas before 1492 because "Native American" sounds funny (how long does it take to be considered native?  It seems kind of...I don't know, racist(?), I guess), American Indian isn't being fair to Indians or "Native Americans," and Indian is completely inaccurate.

thoughts, musting
