TEARS ARE ANONYMOUS

did you know
that your tears are just
like water?
the same tears have been around and they
get recycled just like
water does.
they never disappear
they just move around
from place to place;
from face to face.

did you know
it does not matter
where you cry?
because the tears will
just fall
and dry up or evaporate
no matter
where you are.
they all end up
in the same place
in the end
as they are emptied
from the heart.

i see you are crying again.
let me console you.
let me wipe away your
years,
just maybe one or two.
let me wipe them away
so we rewind to last year
when we used to laugh on orange mats
and eat sunflower seeds
so we could litter the halls.

when you're sad
let me collect your years
in a jar
and let me swirl them around
with my finger
until they all coalesce.
let me pour them out
when you are done crying
so you don't have to
hold this jar
because it will get heavy.
