A week later and I am finally venturing online. Recovery has taken a while. I had to catch up on all of my missed work for the French class, which thankfully ended yesterday. We came home Saturday night late to find our house infested with fleas and have spent the week dealing with that. EEEEWWWWW. In addition, our car had a flat tire, there are miles of yard to mow and the lawn mower is not working. AAAAAAAAHHHHH.
Anyway. Despite serious and unexpected medical issues (which I will discuss in another post) Pennsic was great. Because Eleanor LB is expecting, we camped with Dancing Fox instead of up in N28. Although I was decommissioned for a considerable amount of Pennsic, we still participated the the Battle of the 30, the exchange of the Couter of Chivalry, and a Private Pas d'Armes. Midnight madness was a wonderful experience, truly a festival atmosphere. (So that is what it is like without rain!) The weather was fantastic. I went to 2 classes which were pretty good. Hubby fought more this Pennsic than ever and was in armor from 10 am til 6 pm nearly every day (unfortunately much of that was due to the ridiculous lack of battlefield organization).
In general, I had a great time. This was a good Pennsic, I am glad I went. It was nice to get away from life for a while. It was also really wonderful to be in garb for 10 days straight!
The kids had a great time at grammy's (definately a more luxurious vaca than camping): going to the Cincinnati Zoo, the Newport Aquarium, To Kelly's Island, plus craft projects, trip to the movies, and crazy games like picking up marbles out of a bowl of jello with your toes!
I know there are not real Pennsic specifics, but maybe I will be able to synthsize the experience into a few interesting stories. Later.
