This poem came out of the September 8, 2009 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from
je_reviens and sponsored by
dormouse_in_tea. It features two pieces of Slavic folklore (
Baba Yaga and
Rusalka) and snippets of Russian language (which I hope appear intact).

I understand that by sponsoring this, I am allowed to post it (with attribution) in my LJ as well? I look forward to doing so. . . I think of my primary group of readers only one of them likes poetry *sighs* but she should like it, and there's probably poetry-lovers I don't know about who glance in from time to time. I'm looking forward to pointing them towards you.
So...um, do you have any tips on how to get the Russian to display? I'm a bit nervous about making that part work.

You never know what people will turn out to like. I never intended to write about cooking as a regular feature, but I mentioned a couple things and people went nuts begging for recipes. So I did more of that. Maybe your audience will discover a taste for poetry!
