This is the second batch of photos, primarily focusing on the Midwinter Grove just north of our driveway.
Snow covers the yew bushes in the house yard.
These soft scallops of snow completely cover the goddess garden.
Walking around the corner of the house, Home Base (left) and the Midwinter Grove (right) come into view.
Under a coat of snow, the Home Base mulberry tree shows off his interesting texture.
This pile of brush stands near Home Base. It's not meant to be there, but while it is, it provides shelter for small wildlife.
Looking down the driveway, you can see the Midwinter Grove.
Snow clings to the spruce boughs.
Here you can see
the evergreens doing one of their most important jobs. As the snow presses the boughs against the ground, cozy little caves form to shelter wildlife.
Here's a closer look at the boughs touching the ground.
From this angle, you can start to see into the sheltered interior of the yew
bushes.
This is a closer view of the interior.
Looking toward the end, you can see the new '
Royal Family' hollies poking above the snow.
Look how much snow those wide, prickly holly leaves are catching! Already a small drift is forming around the base. As they grow, the hollies will create another sanctuary under their branches.
Looking past the hollies, here is another view into the sheltered area.
