This poem came out of the July 7, 2015 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from

my 3-16-15 card for the

"A Little Spark of Which"
Reality is a thing which reinvents itself.
Quantum theory is full of odd little notes
about how the world shouldn't exist
or seems to violate its own rules,
glimpses left over from other ages.
The stars are fire and creativity,
a little spark of which in the hand of
humanity is enough to change everything.
One experiment, and suddenly
it's the day the world ended
and the universe began.
Reality folds and unfolds
and refolds itself like
an origami flower.
What had been is not.
What will be is coming.
Theory divides itself into quanta,
becomes material and time,
as reality comes back
into focus.
Plasma flashes --
Fiat lux! -- and
falls into nebulae.
Clouds of light condense into stars.
Everything is beautiful when it is burning.
The ashes remember to be planets.
Fresh air breathes itself into being.
Day, night.
0 into 1.

Notes:
"I'm very moved by chaos theory, and that sense of energy. That quantum physics. We don't really, in Hindu tradition, have a father figure of a God. It's about cosmic energy, a little spark of which is inside every individual as the soul."
