There are all sorts of flavours of poetry. Some as sweet as Turkish delight, some spicy as a wasabi peanut, some with the slow burn of a good hot sauce... they sneak up on you minutes or hours after you've finished reading and WHOA... you'll need a drink after that! And some, like Noyes' "The Highwayman", leave a bitter aftertaste...
And then there's Kipling's "Rimini", which I still haven't figured out yet... it's essentially a century old English take on what amounts to a 2000-year-old Roman jody call... I mean, if soldiers have been playing with D20's for 2000 years or more, why wouldn't their marching songs be about girls? The flavour of this piece, light-hearted despite the subject matter, is indescribable. (Here it is set to music by Leslie Fish... )
