We are basically in that category. We haven't had an actual TV set in the house since about, I dunno, 2005 or so. We do have a digital TV box hooked up to the computer that receives broadcast signals, but we almost never watch anything (and the one show I would be watching right now - Once Upon a Time - is on a channel we don't receive because their transmitter is behind a hill from our house, so I watch it streaming on the website instead). Mostly we wait for shows to appear on Netflix, or watch streaming on the network sites, or buy them on iTunes. There are so many options that I have no desire to sit through a slew of network TV commercials, let alone pay for cable when I can spend the same amount of money to buy DVD or iTunes versions of the handful of shows I actually want to watch.

I don't know whether we would fall into that category or not. A lot of the emphasis in that story was "they still watch plenty of stuff, they just do it differently" -- but we watch very little in the way of either TV or movies. We have a TV set, but no cable, and the only things we normally watch are DVDs. When we have the TV on otherwise, it's generally either to track a local emergency such as a hurricane or flash-flooding, or to monitor the Presidential election. Our TV goes for weeks on end without being turned on at all.
