-- a villanelle

I will do what evil must be done.
When all is over, cast the blame on me.
I am to be hated.  I'm the one.

A villain ... elle. I did not even notice that until you pointed it out!

I can see his / her point, but I find myself wondering if the human-alien mixed race might not have been an improvement. Eh, pay it no mind; I'm cranky tonight.

In my observation, all species have their own strengths and weaknesses. It's rarely about which is "better" overall, than which is more or less suited to a given environment or challenge ( ... )

So has many a madman said, seeing in what is different only irredeemable evil that must be eradicated to save the world -- by any means necessary. It's rarer, but not unheard-of, for such madmen to own and claim the responsibility for their actions. This is a very strong piece.

For me the distinction lies in whether the union was willing (i.e. if you let people get away with procreation-by-rape, they'll just do more of it) and whether the original genepool remains available (because if it doesn't, and the new version fails, you're out of luck entirely). But even when it's necessary, that doesn't make it not-evil.

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." -- George Orwell

Thank you! I'm happy to hear that.
