Generally Sponsored Poetry Poll for April 3, 2012

Apr 06, 2012 21:44

It's time for the generally sponsored poetry poll.  I'm going to work it a little differently this time because the situation is a little different.  All the shorter poems have sold and there is one unsold epic from the April fishbowl (counting the spillover poetry, WOW).  There are currently four open epics.  You get to decide how to spread the funds over the epics, and you have $87 to spend.

This means that me trying to guess what you'll want is chancy at best.  So I'll list the poems and some possible options ...

"The Charlady's Tale" is unsold and priced at $87.  It belongs to The Steamsmith series.  Maryam hires a girl for alchemical cleaning duties.  The two of them start bouncing ideas off each other, and pretty soon there is a jetpack corset in the making.  Wacky steampunk hijinks ensue.

" Peach Blossom Spring Village" needs $45 to be complete.  It's science fiction about a lost robot on the run from the uglier side of humanity.  This is part of the Kung Fu Robots series.

" Salt from a Dead Woman's Table" needs $27 to be complete.  When it's complete, catsittingstill will post the tune that she composed for it, as an extra perk.  This is a fantasy sailpunk ballad about skyships, pirates, drinking and brawling, sword fights, vengeance, and other swashbuckling goodness.

" Storm Wrack" needs $77.50 to be complete.  Part of the series Path of the Paladins, this is a direct sequel to " Follow Your Heart."  Johan washes up in Three Town Fork to find Shahana and Ari already there, whereupon they talk over the very rough day they have all had and what it means to be a paladin.

" Tunnel Vision" needs $23 to be complete.  It belongs to The Steamsmith series.  Isambard Kingdom Brunel expounds on his current project with input from Maryam and several other steamsmiths.  This devolves into an argument and a whole new project rather briskly.

First, you could cover any ONE poem, if folks agree on a favorite.  That includes "Storm Wrack" (which would leave a little extra) or "The Charlady's Tale" (which can be bought whole, but not opened for microfunding yet because there's another Steamsmith poem open currently).

Second, you could finish off any TWO of the poems that have smaller amounts outstanding, with a little left over.  "Tunnel Vision" + "Salt from a Dead Woman's Table" = $50.  "Tunnel Vision" + "Peach Blossom Spring Village" = $68.  "Salt from a Dead Woman's Table" + "Peach Blossom Spring Village" = $72.

Third, you could spread out the funds almost equally across all four open epics.  That would finish "Tunnel Vision," nearly finish "Salt from a Dead Woman's Table," and substantially advance "Peach Blossom Spring Village" and "Storm Wrack."

I'm going to ask you which of those options you like best.  I'm also going to ask you how much you like each individual poem, on a scale of 1-10, where 1 = dislike and 10 = WANT.  (It will be helpful if you can spread out your numbers at least a little, such as voting 10-9-8-7-6 if you like them all; but if you like some equally, it's okay to use the same number more than once.)  Based on what you tell me, I'll assemble a second poll offering you specific options later.

I'll keep this poll open at least until Saturday evening.  If there's a clear answer then, I'll close it and post the followup poll.  Otherwise I may leave this one open a little longer.  Everyone is welcome to vote in both polls.
