Poem: "Winter Apples"

Nov 02, 2011 13:26

This poem came out of the September 13, 2011 perk round.  It was inspired by prompts from janetmiles, jenny_evergreen, aldersprig, and laffingkat.  It was posted in part by minor_architect as the linkbacks poem for the November 1, 2011 Poetry Fishbowl.  Since there are verses left over, you can reveal a verse today by linking to a favorite poem from this fishbowl.  These people have boosted the signal: wyld_dandelyon, marina_bonomi, janetmilesRead more... )

*cackle* *rub hands together* Yes, it is!

This poem has a slow build as Fiorenza's quiet village life turns up clues to a mystery, and now the villain is onstage...

If I link to a new poem each day, will that be pushing too hard on the relationship/arrangement?
(Yes, I want to know what happens.)

Sure, we can do that. There will be more stuff happening tomorrow, too -- I have a couple of polls to post, once I know what the final tally on donations is. Those will be open to everyone.

I'm pleased that at least one person is really hooked into "Winter Apples."

I think it sounds like Snow White but it might not be...

It is! *clap hands* I'm glad that someone spotted that and mentioned it. This is basically a backstage view of a fairytale.

And here is my link back. http://rix-scaedu.livejournal.com/33336.html

I suspect that Fiorenza might have something to say about poisoning good apples.

I've added the new verse. Yes, Fiorenza disapproves of the mayhem attempting to occur.

Does the vermin have a name?
She'll be wanting monkshood root next...

>> Does the vermin have a name? <<

Yes, though it doesn't appear in the poem. I just figured this character was cold enough to come up with a cover story like "vermin."

*chuckle* Oh, wait and see.
