Today's first freebie poem was inspired by siliconshaman and concerns the relationship between mystical elements and states of matter, between matter and energy, and between ideas of the past and the present.

I have been thinking of Solid/Earth, Liquid/Water, Gas/Air for many years. I think I originally had Fire as "chemical transformation." When I looked at this version, I thought about how our understanding of "the elements" has changed over time, but it is still based on the components of the material world ... perceived through the mind's eye. So there you have it.
