Flying updates...
Lessee, in no particular order:
1. I'm still alive, despite stress from work, family and other elements attempting to murder me. Yay, alive!
2. Blessings upon my friend Sarah for lending me her sewing machine last night; after a brief revival, mine has totally and completely died. When I can afford it I'll see if it's revivable, but right now, THANK YOU SARAH!!!
3. And while I'm saying Thanks for stuff, huge thanks to various and sundry friends (you know who you are) for listening to me freak out over stress (see #1), finances and for helping me make up my mind towards-- well, not a decision so much as a set of options, but at least I'm not internalizing shit so much anymore. That way leads towards heart-attacks and strokes, and my family history's got those in abundance.
4. I am sewing like a mofo (see #2) to get ready for Estrella War. I have every hope that this'll be a good one, and I'm looking forward to working in The Watch this year (we were called Security last year. ??? Johannes, I vote for you as our version of Sam Vimes.) Gonna be camping with The Hoard again, which was lovely last year and I'm certain will be this year as well; amazingly hospitable people, and I love how they look out for each other. A lot of SCAdians who turn up their noses at Those Mongols could learn one hell of a lot from 'em.
5. Was looking at my backyard yesterday evening very briefly, and am considering what plants to put in for veggies again. The squash plants didn't do too well last year and I let the tomatos get straggly (though I still got quite a few from them.) I have green and regular onions going already, nice and fat; I need to fix the watering system for my herbs (the potted ones are fine, but the herb-patch doesn't get enough spray) and I think I'm gonna try for some dye-plants this year... and maybe some hops. I grew hops once before out here; with a little shade, they do just fine. XD Wouldn't homebrew made with home-grown hops be rather cool?
