So while whitling down my army of nerds from okcupid, I've realized that, while I am a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy, I actually have a rather limited scope of things I've read/watched. I am going to list the things I do know and the things on my list to read/watch next/soon. (as I remember them...certainly to be revised/added to)
But I also need input. It doesn't matter how obvious (for example, I just finished reading Ender's Game for the first time), tell me what you like/what you think is most important for a well-rounded sci-fi/fantasy nerd.
Have read/watched:
Books/Graphic Novels:
LotR/The Hobbit (not the Silmarillion, Lost Tales or any of the follow-ups)
All of Discworld
Good Omens
Most of the SW EU
His Dark Materials
Ender's Game
Princess Bride
American Gods
Stardust
Some Mercedes Lackey (The Black Swan is my favorite) but none of the Valdemar
That Dealing with Dragons Series that is a young adult thing but I really enjoyed it
Castle Waiting
Elantris
Mists of Avalon
Movies:
Princess Bride
Stardust
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
SW OT
LotR
Labyrinth
Dark Crystal
Pirates Triology
Serenity (and how!)
Terminator (1st one only so far)
king kong (remake)
Dark knight!!!
TV:
Firefly
The 10th kingdom
Sarah Connor Chronicles
enough original Star Trek to make fun of it
some Buffy
Merlin
On my list:
Books/Graphic Novels:
the rest of the Ender Series
Watchmen
David Eddings
More Mercedes Lackey
Xanth
I'm on the fence about (heard good and bad things)
Terry Goodkind
Robert Jordan
Anne McCafferty
Dune (I'm starting to read it again now after being quickly bored by it years ago and am similarly unimpressed but feel free to correct me)
Movies:
Legend
Willow (yes, this is a crime, I am aware)
Nightwatch/Day Watch
Eragon
300
The Fountain
Timeline
TV:
Stargate Atlantis (I started to watch SG-1 and didn't make it through the pilot but same as above)
Battlestar Galactica
Torchwood
Dr. Who
Red Dwarf
Heroes
Berate me if you must for my failkid status. Remember my late start (I didn't see Star Wars until 8th grade) and grant me my extensive knowldge of D&D.
But help me!
