I don't think I posted here about my two car accidents.
Three weeks ago, I was driving home on a Monday night (it was about 9:30, I love the Library!). You know when the median splits and there's a place to turn but it's not a real turn lane? Well, there was a car in that and the right rear corner of her bumper was jutting out into the left lane where I was driving. I had looked down for a second and when I looked up, there was no way to avoid hitting her. I managed to swerve most of the way so I barely scraped the other car, but this threw me up onto the median and into a pole which crushed my driver's side wheel well and wheel, rendering my car undriveable and leaving my hubcap around the pole like a bizarre ring-toss winner. It's still there, actually. The police officer who came was very nice and didn't give me a ticket and my mom came and got me. USAA is awesome and my deductible is low and got my rental and found a body shop minutes from my home. The 15 days for repairs became 22 but I got Princess back yesterday. I'd gotten sorta used to the rental Hyundai though because it was clean and pretty and had XM radio which I left on the comedy channel.
However, a lady backed into my rental in the library parking lot three days after I got it. I reported this to USAA and I continued to drive it until Princess was ready. When I turned in the rental, they made me pay my deductible to them even though the accident wasn't my fault and said I should be reimbursed. In retrospect, I should probably have turned in the rental when the damage happened and bitched them out and gotten USAA on the phone to avoid paying that money because this second accident was really, really not my fault. I was at a stop, almost entirely out of the space when the woman just pulled out and hit me. Blah.
Luckily, I just got paid from the City and I'm expecting a pretty big tax refund, but still. Bad luck.
And I could have used that money to finally get my damn computer fixed.
However, I have some pretty new clothes, money enough to cover things, wonderful friends and a job that I'm very comfortable with for now. I am ready to start taking on some of the stuff I've been avoiding lately. I am getting better. I really am.
I want to go on weekend trips this summer. To the beach, to Busch Gardens, perhaps to the country houses of some of my generous friends.
