bits and bobs of british history. I am neither British nor a historian, so I gotta keep it all in one easy-to-reference place. Please correct me if I'm wrong, or feel free to leave general tidbits of info! As always, this information pertains specifically not only to England in the Regency Period, but Things That Specifically Concern One Lieutenant William Bush, RN.

Things People In The Regency Period Didn't Say belongs here; i'll add to that in comments I guess. And this, probably :Ia TOO LAZY TO EDIT ENTRIES.
the rich eat by candlelight! as such they eat much later and use ~expensive candles~ to do so. this isn't anything Bush thinks about actively of course, but i imagine it's certainly a rich/poor bias that exists in the back of his mind.
poaching is illegal, bush probably thinks about that because his family is relatively lower class; crime for women getting caught hunting on no longer common 'common' land is flogging, men it's hanging, and that's if the owners of the land haven't shot you first.
GOOD ENGLISHMEN DRINK PORT NOT SAUCY FRENCH CLARET LIKE THOSE PARISIAN DOGS
bush loev cheese & toast -- proper cheese and toast has red wine doused on it before it was grilled. MAGICALLY DELICIOUS.
PUT LEAD IN WINE IT MAKES IT SWEET THIS IDEA IS A TOTAL GREAT ONE OMG NO REPERCUSSIONS AT ALL
ICE CREAM (SHOPS) HOW NEWFANGLED (things Bush doesn't know but I find interesting: ice cream first started popping up in England because Italian immigrants were escaping the Napoleonic wars. How cool!) common flavors: cinnamon, tea, pumpkin, also vanilla and strawberry and other boring shit. TO BE HILARIOUS William probs likes tea flavored ice cream. GOOD ENGLISH EATING.
why yes it is obvious i've watched the supersizers go regency why do you ask.
shuttlecocks: upperclass
Beethoven: newfangled
REAL MEN CAN HANDLE HORSE AND CARRIAGES YEAHHHHHHHH (Since Bush considers himself a 'real man' whatever that means, and so he probably at least thinks he can manage a proper horse and carriage with minimal injury.) 7mph holly crap that is fast.
luncheon/noonshine = lunch. he will not say lunch, he will say luncheon or noonshine.
