The small cell Molly had been thrown into after her time in the gym was bare; it was slightly different than the one she woke up in.
The biggest difference was that there was a double sitting across from her, on her cot. Molly didn't care for cots, no, but it was still hers.
Other Molly ran a hand through her hair with a brilliant smile. Molly's stomach lurched, and she realized that the ribbons in her hair and the highlights were all reminiscent of when she had first stated to practice hypnotism; the mirror exercise. Where she 'hypnotized herself' into seeing who she wanted to be. And back then, she had wanted to be praised. She wanted people to be nice to her, no matter how artificial it was.
She didn't need to ask who she was. She had an idea.
By her silence, the Other Molly stood, walked over, and took her hands gently, so she cupped the back of her hands, sweaty palms visible. "You're nervous," she said snidely, and Molly felt hot resentment start to build in her stomach. This girl had said it in such a way that it was just too condescending.
"Why do you look exactly like me?"
"Because I am you." The girl pointed out, and with a smirk, offhandedly said, "Because I have to. Do you think anyone would want your face, Bog Eyes?"
Hazel. She was like Hazel, only worse--because that was her own voice taunting her! Her face started to tinge red in embarrassment and humiliation.
"Why are you here?"
"Because you need to know the truth about yourself. You need to face the facts, Molly Cell."
Molly Cell. Molly still didn't like the sound of that name; it sounded sinister. "Primo said I could keep my name as Molly Moon. I'm Molly Moon, not Molly Cell."
"He doesn't care that you don't say your name is Cell because he doesn't like. You."
"He's my father!"
"He almost killed you! He wanted to kill you, because deep down inside, he hates you."
Molly shut her eyes tightly. "He's... my. Father."
The Other Molly leaned in. "And for these eleven years he's been under the control of Cornelius. He hasn't thought about you at all. Neither did Lucy."
Molly gritted her teeth, tight fists shaking. "S-she was hypnotized! They were both hypnotized, and so was Cornelius!" She pushed the Other Molly with her powerful eyes (even without hypnosis, they contained danger), sitting down onto the cot and starting to fluff the pillow.
"Lucy wouldn't even talk to you when she came out of her hypnotism. Don't you remember that? She just aimlessly walked around the garden and the house."
That was a lower blow than Molly had anticipated. She started getting a big lump in her throat. She was still insecure about that--just watching her mother day in, day out, just walk around, without any attention brought to her... it hurt. It hurt so much. But I'm right here, Lucy! she had wanted to scream so many times.
"Don't you remember how happy she was when you brought Micky home? She was ecstatic. Because of Micky. Not because of you, because of him. Everyone likes him better, Molly. Just like everyone likes Rocky better, too. You've always been the unpopular one."
Molly closed her eyes, knowing tears were forming. Micky... she saved him from Princess Fang. Rocky, she saved from Nockman and his awful American parents. Even Ojas, she didn't need the Other Molly to remind her of Ojas, who had pointed out just how she was like a thief.
Was she worthless, as a person? As a hypnotist... as a person... she wasn't the same. She was a master hypnotist, but no one wanted to be around her, just as a person.
Was Rocky scared of her power? He had been jealous before.
Molly pulled her knees to her chest and buried her tears against her jeaned knees. It was alright. Being nothing to anyone was almost normal, for her.
