The Master smiled as his TARDIS took on the shape of a 1960's Earth Police Call Box.

Now all he had to do was stay and wait, door ajar. One of those silly companions would dash in sooner or later.

Rose wasn't sure how long she'd been there, locked to the coatrack. Oh, it was humiliating, hanging there while her arms went numb, then began to ache. She had more time than she could ever want to imagine all the ways the Doctor would react to this. Few of them were pleasant. And she was thirsty, too. Why didn't anyone have the good manners to offer their prisoners water anymore?

The Master walks into the console room, carrying a small, straight-backed chair. He sets it down by where Rose is standing.

"Well, sit down, young lady! Would you like some tea?" He asks in a bored tone of voice, as if he realy couldn't be bothered, but is asking anyway.

She stares at him for a minute, shocked, then pulls the chair closer with her foot and sits. "Tea would be nice. Thank you."

He nods shortly and walks back through a door, presumably on his way to the kitchen.

She sits, and waits, and tries to ignore the fact she's stuck to a coatrack.

He returns with a mug of tea and a plate of biscuits. (Hoping that they will actually keep her quiet.) He sets them on a small table and carefully moves it within her reach.

"Here you are, then. Do try not to make a fuss. Your Doctor should be along shortly, I hope."

She looks at the tea and biscuits, then at her hands. Table, hands. And again.

"What'm I supposed to do, eat with my feet?"

He presses a button discreetly. "Honestly, child, the restraints lengthen enough for you to eat." Or they do now, anyway.

"They didn't before, and my name is Rose." She takes a long drink of tea, watching him over the rim of the mug.

"Really? How nice." He's just idly fiddling around with the controls, trying to look busy.

She watches him while she finishes her tea and has a biscuit.

"What are you doing?"

"Hmm? Oh, nothing." Nothing you'd understand, anyway. He's still trying to see if the dematerilization circut is salvageable.

She scowls a bit. She barely tolerates this from the Doctor, but not from him. "Are all Time Lords so egotistical, or have I just been lucky?"

"Oh, most of them are far, far worse." He fiddles with some circuitry and sighs. "Useless."

"Quite."

He ignores her and glares at the console. He's debating whether or not to kick it. It wouldb't do the circiuts any good, but it'd make him feel better.
