Win cash for your band with Nescafe Big Break
Calling all musos. You could win a stake in $220,000 to kick-start your music career by entering the 2005 Nescafé Big Break.
Last year, Melbourne rock/pop band The Hovercrafts won $25,000 to produce a professionally recorded CD. The band had been sweating it out on the live music scene for over a year and had received airplay on national youth broadcaster Triple J, for their track The Love and the Sound, but did not have the funds to get their music out to the masses - now they do.
Young music industry hopefuls have won Nescafé Big Break cash grants nearly every year since the program began. Past winners have included classical pianists, hip-hop record labels, singer/songwriters and artist management companies - and even Brisbane's own The Boat People.
People aged 16 to 24 years are invited to enter Nescafé Big Break, which is this year offering nine $5,000 grants, five $25,000 grants and one $50,000 grant.
The competition is not confined to the music industry. Since launching in 1990, Nescafé Big Break has awarded over $2,500,000 to help more than 250 young people realise their dreams and ambitions in diverse areas such as technology, the arts, business, sport, education, agriculture and charity.
