an amazing thing happened. i couldn't sleep, so i flipped through the 9 stations i get in this room, one of them public access, and they were speaking german. it was one of those lame late-nineties classroom type films. i felt so productive watching that.
and the next one, was in french. i couldn't make out even a syllable at first, it was mumble nonsense, and my brain was still in german-mode. and then, a miracle, after about twenty minutes, i understood, actually understood two consecutive french sentences, i knew what every word meant. granted, it was talking about a guy with brown hair and some girl and such but after i listened to it it dawned on me.. for a brief instant, i understood a snippet of french.
that moment was sublime.
