My dad is back in the hospital.

He had another one of those "mini strokes" that he had this summer. This morning he was getting ready for work and talking to my mom when he started to talk gibberish, but didn't even know what he was saying. As my mom described it, my dad would say the correct first half of a word but then splice a different ending on that word, and his word order was all messed up, so his sentences were totally nonsensical. But the scary part is that he didn't even know what he was saying didn't make sense; he thought everything was coming out of his mouth normally.

My mom took him to the hospital, and there he had trouble with word recall, but he wasn't talking gibberish anymore. And this time he didn't freeze up or have any weird visions. It also happened early in the morning, like the first time, so there has to be some kind of connection. He's working with the same doctor as before, and she feels that it is still related somehow to his migraines, but is going to do more extensive neuro exams than last time.

My mom talked to one of her coworkers whose mom had something similar happen, and I guess the woman had a partially blocked artery at the back of her neck that caused blood deprivation in the brain. Granted, this is just anecdotal, but it is something to think about.

Anyways, my dad has to stay in the hospital at least for tonight so they can observe any possible changes over the next 24 hours.
