Malcolm X was assasinated today in 1965. And the Vietnam war escalated the same year; the US got involved militarily in 1964 after the Gulf of Tonkin incident. I am full of knowledge about the Vietnam War, because I had to write a paper about it last week comparing it to the Iraq War. They are astonishingly similar! From start and I am assuming till end.
Anyhow, last week was beautiful. Chill but bright. This week the rain has come back, not so much sideways wind which is good, but still enough wind to make me unable to hold my large rainbow colored umbrella steady over my head. Last weekend I went home and spent every waking second, except when I was sleeping, with my mum. We went out, shopped, watched movies, talked. I ate like I'd never seen food before. And I bothered Jimmy too, until he started growling. Hey calm down Jimmy- I mean so what if I like to pick you up the second you get comfortable on the sofa and try to take a nap. I think that you are overreacting. Plus, I think you are getting quite plump. You barely fit into your vest at the Christmas party, hence the one bottom near your stomach refusing to close. And now I dont think any of the buttons button. No more vanilla fro yo for you. It's too bad, since ma has several coupons for free minis at golden spoon.
I feel really silly sometimes. Like when I try to say something in MUN. Everyone in that club is older and cooler and more knowledgeable and they make these dry jokes about issues of sovereignty when an entity like Kosovo tries to secede and form its own country. US, why can't you stay out of peoples' business, we just lost another embassy in Belgrade, wonderful. Hopefully NATO can do the trick? Well I said I hope it doesn't get violent at the last meeting and it sent a wave of laughter in the room that suddenly seemed a lot warmer and bigger than it really was. Oh well, I thought. I shrugged my shoulders, ears burning and sat back in the desk. When the meeting ended, I spent the next few minutes, running to the bus stop talking to my umbrella about how I should have realized the similarity between Kosovo and duh, South Carolina, the reason the Civil War started. Of course! Of course! How could that have slipped my mind?
