There is a travesty that needs to be addressed. I’m not sure if we can get our government officials involved, but they should at least be made aware of the situation. In fact, there is not a day that goes by that I don’t question why “Dinosaurs” is no longer on the air. The adventures of Earl, Fran and the kids got us through some hard times, and we as a nation need them now more than ever.
I don’t think the show was made to be overtly political, but when Earl went to his boss Mr. Sinclair to ask for a raise, it is a lot like our nation going up against the impossible and overcoming. Couldn’t we all use the courage of Earl when facing our dilemmas?
How about the consistency of Baby? Sure, when he called Earl, “not the mama”, it was hilarious, but it also showed his determination not to fall into the “norm”. Baby didn’t want to be like everyone else and refer to his father as “daddy” or some other name that showed artificial feelings to his birth father’s position as a parent. Not the mama not only brought us laughs, it opened doors for us to discuss the role of parents in families.
Do you realize that it has been 13 years since we’ve had the joy of watching a first run episode of “Dinosaurs”? Sure, there have been family comedies since then, but none of them have hit that close to home. None of them showed the desperation of a baby dinosaur as he hits his father over the head with a frying pan to make birds appear. Instead, we get crap like “Heroes” (more like “Zeros”) and “Friday Night Lights” (more like…”Friday Nights…suck”). Critics love these shows more than they ever cared for “Dinosaurs”, but isn’t that why we loved the show in the first place? They didn’t bow to the demands of the so called “critics”. “Dinosaurs” was above critics…and that is why we need to bring them back to our airwaves!
I ask that you write your Congressmen. Submit questions to the next Youtube presidential debate. Let’s make them answer the hard questions! Let’s make them BRING BACK DINOSAURS!
