That was a fucking long talk.
Result: I feel much more in control and levelheaded about things.
Mission was truly accomplished for once in a way that I can actually perceive.

Not that anything is technically different-- except for the key component of my brain now NOT feeling like it's been partially detached, turned inside out, and stitched back on with rusty barbed wire. And then again detached, process repeated. My brain is always the culprit. Needs a mental tetanus shot. Every vaccine, for that matter, or at least the-idea-behind-vaccines equivalent for the brain.
I'll bet I will actually be abe to sleep tonight.
