You've Got Friend

Apr 29, 2004 00:58

I guess this is two days in a row I've posted.  I'm already proud of myself!!!  You should be, too.  I'm not very good at keeping things like this.  If I make it through a week, we'll really celebrate!

Anyway, another exciting day here at BSC.  One of my best friends here and her boyfriend broke up today.  She was, how do you say?, a little torn up, as it were.  And the worst part is, there's nothing I can do, or anyone else for that matter.  I mean, I will gladly sit and hold her forever and ever, but it sure doesn't matter.  Nothing anyone can say or do helps when you hurt like that.  That makes me hurt a lot, because I don't like not being able to alleviate someone's pain.  I'm not going to even pretend I can, but I'm not going to pretend I like it, either!

In other news... I played tennis today... kinda... okay, no I didn't.  The girl I was supposed to play for intramural league didn't show up, but I did practice with another girl on the team for quite a while.  So, I guess I did play tennis, just still to chicken shit to play a game.  But however, I'm glad I did play in front of people for the first time.  Yay for me!!!  I was still a little bit self-conscious, but I did okay!

Ohohoh, before that, I went to the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind here for my Survey of Exceptional Children class.  It was super-interesting.  They offer a sign language class I'd like to take next year sometime.  I already know the alphabet, and quite a few words, especially after Lucy.

Who's Lucy, you ask?  Why, I'll tell you!!!  Lucy was one of my campers at Camp McDowell this past summer.  She was deaf and legally blind.  She taught me a lot.  She rocked, that's for sure, even if it was a little bit difficult at the beginning of the week.  I managed!  God doesn't give you anything (or anyone, in this instance especially!) you can't handle.  So 1,673 points for Camp!

Anything else of interest... let's see... Lance's hair is fading... he doesn't like it, but I think it's still very nice.  It's different, and I like that.  I think we all need a little change every now and then, and something as stupid as hair can really do that!  Right after breaking up with Micah (in Jan., after over a year together) I cut 12 inches off my hair!!!  Trust me, it had has much to do with my separation as just wanting it cut.  That flows nicely back to Britni, again.  We're supposed to be dying her hair Friday.  Maybe that will be a good release.  Maybe you think that's dumb.  Maybe I don't, and it's my journal, so ha!  Well, I think we've come full circle.  I shall post again soon...tomorrow, perhaps?

The song in my head... a little James Taylor, which is great.  Very mellow.  Lance started singing it when we were leaving Britni's room.  Not only do I love some James Taylor, I think the song is appropriate.  Micah gave me a James Taylor cd right before we started going out.  As much as I dislike Micah now, he wasn't always like this.  He was a great boyfriend for a long time.  I'm glad we dated.  Wow, I'm glad I finally feel like that completely, too!

When you're down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend.

If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
