How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad?

So!  Last weekend, not the weekend of yesterday but last weekend, Jessica came down!  She came in Saturday afternoon after spending the night in Auburn, and after a quick rest we headed out to pick up Chelsea and make our way to the Mullet Festival!  I had never been to said festival, but there are... stories... from when Jessica was first living in Florida, and I understood it to be much fun.  We met Amanda and Brandon at the boiled peanuts stand-- yummo-- and proceeded to meander around the event.

It was actually a pretty laid-back and tame night.  We had a few beers and a lot of peanuts.  We tried their fried green tomatos and fried twinkies and fried Snickers and fried alligator on a stick.  We listend to Joe Nichols play for a bit.  For a while Chelsea and I hung out at Zach's tent, where he was raising money for the team he coaches (I think).  We watched some pretty intense players kick a soccer ball around, trying to beat each other's records.  It was really impressive, and Chelsea and I make great commentators.  Oh, we also got to settle an interesting debate about how one should best tip a cowboy hat.  Clearly, the classic "howdy, ma'am" wins over whatever gun shooting technique they were trying to pull off.  Oh, and we got lasered.  Interesting night.

Sunday was absolutely lovely.  Amanda, Chelsea, Jessica, and I gathered picnic supplies at Publix and then went to Amanda's to spend a day outside with Toby and Teddy.  There was plentiful sunshine and beautiful water and delicious food.  We watched the boys eat their doggy ice cream while we enjoyed barbeque sandwiches.  We got to see the fishmen come in and gut a few fish (gross but fascinating).  We mostly just lounged, and it was one of the nicest sunniest most relaxed days I've had in a long time.

So so so, fast forward, to last weekend, not last weekend but the weekend of yesterday, and I found myself Alabama bound.  This was an impulse decision, made Friday afternoon after talking to Lindsey, who was headed to Sheffield with Erica.  I drove up to Auburn late late Friday, slept at Lance and Tyler's (and got to see their new really cute house!), then zipped on up home.  Mom made portabello mushrooms stuffed with eggplant parmesean (amazing!) and we watched Slumdog Millionaire and Sunday morning Jessica came over and we carved some pretty kick-ass pumpkins, and before I left Dad made me a giant bag of cheese straws.

Seven hours later, I arrived safe and sound here back in Destin.  Now I am at work and feeling pretty happy.
