You are beautiful and peaceful this way...

Recently I watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which I enjoyed.  I didn't even realize that Danny DeVito was in it until I was reading the cast list later (looking for Christopher Lloyd, who I had recognized).  I read the book several years ago and enjoyed it.  Yesterday I finished 88 Minutes, an Al Pacino flick that was pretty good.  He's one of my mom's favorites, so I'm trying to watch more of his stuff.  I also watched A Touch of Greatness, which was a wonderful little documentary about Albert Cullum, a school teacher in the 50s and 60s.  The movie itself was pretty good, but especially fun was just seeing Mr. Cullum talk.  It was just pleasurable how his eyes lit up when he talked about his students and his subjects and Shakespeare.

This morning I watched Good Dick, which was fantastic.  I text messaged Lindsey about it, and apparently she got to meet the director at the Sidewalk Film Festival, which is super cool.  I'm surprised Netflix hasn't created a "Sexually Explorative Independent Films" category for me, or perhaps "Movies That Will Make You Uncomfortable With the Wrong Crowd."  Shortbus has become one of my favorite movies, and I have also really enjoyed such kinky weird films as Normal Adolescent Behavior and --some movie title I cannot think of but will insert later when I figure it out-- and Secretary.  Anyway.

I've watched two seasons of Dexter, and would like to watch the 3rd, but it's not online yet and I can't find Home Alone to send it back and get the actual copy.  I've finished up two seasons of The Office, as well; once I watch season three I'll have seen them all, albeit out of order.  I'm also through two seasons of 30 Rock.  Clearly, I spend a lot of time watching movies and television nowadays.  Thank God for internet, and the ability to pick and choose.

In other television news, Lost premiered Tuesday night, to the great excitment of everybody who's anybody.  I don't think I could have followed the show from week to week over the last five years, but, through the power of DVD, I finished the previous seasons a couple months ago (although my timeline was nothing compared to the few weeks it took Lance and Tyler to power through the entire series).  Now, I like the show, I really do-- even if they did kill off two of my three favorite characters in the first episode this season (so what if they brought one of them back to life...ish).  More than the show, I love the sharing of a universe with other people.  I think this is the true appeal of any phenomenon.  It's what makes Harry Potter so fantastic, and why people continue to watch those god-awful movies.  The movies link back to the world, however terribly, and they allow us to talk once again about fictional people that we love.  And now Lost allows that same connection.  It sparks debate and interest and comraderie, and I love that.

Anyway.  It's been a sleepy day for the baby.  She's growing like a weed.  It's time for me to work on my daily crossword puzzle.  Ciao!
