I remember it...

Aug 16, 2004 00:12

Okay, folks, cheesy lyrics in this post... but they're at the end... from the alter ego of Garth Brooks... Mr. Chris Gaines... I really like the CD, actually!

Anyway... I left Friday morning (it was 11:30 when I left, so it was too morning!) heading to Birmingham to stay with Greg.  So, we ran errands, including two banks, Costco, and two other places I can't remember.  At the second bank, I taught these 7-year-old girls how to make paper cups, boxes, and air planes, and played catch with a three-year-old little boy.  Then their mom got finished, and my guardians were still doing grown-up work.  SO, I ripped up a Compass bank pamphlet and made an Abe Lincoln action figure with it and a penny!  I gave it to Greg... who threw him away... but saved the penny. :-/

I shall not discuss the events of that night, because they were dumb and pointless and make me roll my eyes just to think of them.  Although I'm glad things occurred as they did, because this will be a fun story to tell someday.  Also, I got to see Grammar, so big points for that.

Sat. we cleaned and packed, and sat around, and went and got Jess, and went to Burger King, and Erin, Greg's sister, hung out with us.  She's really spiffy.  Greg, give her my lj name, if she wants to be friends on it.  Oh, and it's easy to make Greg uncomfortable around her, which I thought was highly amusing.  We hung out with Jess... took her home... then I was finally going to go home (I should have left at like 4 or 5, but didn't want to, so stupidly planned to drive home in the dark) and Greg's wonderful mother offered to let me stay another night.  324 points to her.  Seriously, my ass would have died driving in the dark... yeah, I lied, Greg, I would have had to pull over, because I am BLIND.

SO, I stayed the night, left this morning at 8:30, got home in two hours, got online for a very short while, and went to sleep.  Meagan woke me up to take her to Shoals for something... now she has to wash my dishes because I'm a horrible person and refused to take her at first.  Then I... what did I do?

Oh, Lance called.  I talked to him, and T.J. and Jensen came by while I was on the phone.  I told them to come get me in an hour, at which time they took me on my first geo-caching expedition, which was hella-fun!  It was SO beautiful today, too!  We went to the train bridge to hang out for a bit, and it was oh so nice, and before that we found a box near my house, and that was cool, too.  I hope that doesn't count as a location, T.J.... near my house is pretty broad.

Okay, so that was my day... Just so you know, Greg, when this song came on, I got all teary on my way home... I knew I'd cry before the day was out, but I was hoping I'd be at home! :-D  The song's not even great over-all, but the message is simple and I really like what it's saying.  Reminds me of a million things... I'm sure anyone who really knows me and reads this has at least a few things we've done together popping into your head... even if you don't know me, Reader, just think about something great.  You won't remember how everyone showed up twenty minutes late, or how the plans changed at the last minute, or whatever other little inconveniences occured.  You'll remember it just like you want to.  Like all campouts with my loggers and sunny days on the quad in Birmingham.  I don't remember there being any bugs... do you? :-D  P.S., I love you.

It's only natural with time,
Details can somehow slip you're mind.
Something so sweet, though incomplete,
You feel the spaces in-between.

Never will be that way again...
Maybe it wasn't, way back when.
To my heart and soul, this is the way the story has to be told.

That's the way this story has to be told.
That's the way I remember it... I remember it that way.
From the day I was living it, I remember it that way.

Some of our stories fade as we grow older,
Some get sweeter every time they're told.
That's the way I remember you, that way.

Guess now if the truth was known,
Among diamonds there were stones.
To say would be fair, nothing compares,
To when I called you all my own.

So darlin, don't ever you think twice.
Those were the best days of my life.
When I held you there...
And I tell the story this way, time and again.

That's the way I remember it.
I remember it that way.
From the day I was living it, I remember it that way.
Some of our stories fade as we grow older,
Some get sweeter every time they're told.
That's the way I remember you, that way.

Greg, I hope you post soon.  I want to hear all about your first day.  Or call me... there's a slim chance I'll get the message from one of my sisters, or if we're lucky, Graham will answer, and he'll actually let me know you're on the phone.  Until then, I'm pumping Lance for information... thanks, Lance, for keeping me updated! :-D
