Life in a Morning (a poem I wrote a week or 2 ago)

Jun 13, 2007 21:21

We sat, smiling, in the dampened green
Beneath the azure blanket above;
I smiled as your words flowed over me,
Soaking through my skin in one great, steady wave
...And I laughed
.
People were passing all around us,
I watched them carefully from our back-row pew
As I listened to your gentle murmur.
You told of murder, revolution, and lies-
Dreams for the future and hopes from the past
.
I sat and watched you patiently,
Remembering the spark in your eye,
And you smiled as you watched me laughing,
Not knowing my laughter was for you.
