Characters: Lelouch, Open to any Date/Place: Monday after school Warnings: Lelouchisms Summary: Something seems to be troubling Lelouch... he's playing chess, in an odd way.
To be honest, it'd nearly made her jump out of her skin -- it was quite one thing to expect to hear something while strolling aimlessly with your eyes on the ground, and completely another for that something to be such a sideways brand of violent.
Turning her eyes over to the upheaven chessboard, her breath caught painfully in her throat like it often did whenever he managed to ... well, to exist anywhere in a five-yard radius of the ballerina in question.
Quietly she padded to the side of the small outdoor table, wrapping her fingers around the discarded Black Bishop and lifting it lightly from the board. "I don't know much about chess," Kanna said softly, "but I don't think that went too well, from that reaction."
"Obviously." He replied back acidly. He was angry at the game, at himself, and everything around him. None of it seemed to make sense to him - even in his head.
Lelouch began to pick the pieces of the board up. He snatched the Black Bishop from her, placing it back in it's proper place.
"... when I ran into you the other day. I was kind of a jerk ... well, I mean -- so were you, but I guess maybe I started it without really meaning to. So ... I'm sorry."
"You're forgiven, if that's the answer you wanted to hear." He picked up the Black Rook and twirled it between his fingers. "Watch your tongue or the guards will arrest you."
"Ah, Akihara. You shouldn't be too surprised. He is one of the top bounty hunters in the Area." He seemed almost amused. "If you're alive that is enough of a blessing."
"Maybe. I'm just glad he didn't shoot my legs out like he threatened, I'd kind of be in trouble." She put her fingertip on top of a White Pawn piece for a moment, looking at the board.
Kanna smiled. "... I try really hard, but I'm not very good. I didn't start playing until a short time ago, and ..." Her face fell a little bit, but she continued. "... I know someone way better at this game that I am. I learned to see what people like about it, and I suppose I see it ... but I guess I'm either too impatient or just plain not very good at board games."
"It's not that hard to move pieces on a board." He motioned for her to take the seat behind the White pieces. "Just sit down and move them to how you think they should be - if you do anything illegal, I'll let you know."
Of course he had a side motive to this. 'Having someone else that clearly fit the White pieces like I fit the Black pieces will have a better outcome. I won't be splitting my attention between trying to remember two different things at once.'
He glanced behind him at the sleeping Kyo before sitting back down.
"Well, alright ... but don't be too surprised when you win." She sat down, studying the board for a moment. She was playing against Lelouch -- and even if it wasn't exactly her Lulu, it was still very much Lulu; she was still probably going to lose terribly. Kanna's brain didn't wrap around strategy the way his did ... but if she was going to play him, she might as well suffer the headache, be glad he was speaking to her, and try to think like him.
Reaching up, she moved the right-center pawn two spaces.
Lelouch simply moved the black pawn in front of his left bishop one space. A simple move, but the game wasn't about winning. Even though he knew he'd win.
