i want to write something amazing, about the UN convoy we saw driving along highways in Kosovo, about the poverty we saw in Roma settlements around Serbia, Macedonia, and Kosovo, about the fact that almost no one thinks an institutionalized education for conflict resolution or minority issues is necessary. The Roma settlement living on a destroyed Jewish cemetary just outside Nish. The cafe we sat in, in Mitrovica, that was bombed three weeks before. But I really can't explain it. One day I'll try. I'm thinking about taking a nonfiction writing course in the spring just for that purpose.

Anyway.

I can't seem to find an internship along the lines I want for the spring. The interesting internships are either far away from Sarah Lawrence (in Massachusetts, DC, and California) or asking for too many things, like languages and more than two days a week. It's pretty overwhelming to try to narrow things down like that, instead of knowing exactly what i want from the beginning, i.e. the Holocaust museum or something. i'm thinking about maybe just finding a job somewhere and earning money. i've already promised my sundays to the museum, because i am an idiot. but i love giving tours. even if they still won't let me get paid for them. that will come.

mostly i gave up looking at internships and went back to the age-old fun of looking at apartments for rent in yonkers on craigslist. sadly, there are never pictures of the $800/month 1 bedrooms.
