HABITAT WAS AWWWWESOME!
I had the best time this week down at Bridgeport, CT! I had a fun time and enjoyed myself alot. I went down for about a week. We seemed to accomplish a lot when we were down there. The best was probably painting the inside of a whole entire house. Even the ceilings we did. That definatley made my neck hurt though.
The community was very poor and run down. It definately needed some working on. We stay pretty muc right in the city in a Methodist church. We slept on the floor in a really really small room in the the humid 95 degree heat. I couldnt sleep the first couple of nights becase i was so hot! I have never sweated so much and not doing nething.
We met some of the families which was defintley neat. Some of them single moms and others who couldnt seem to speak much english. I wanted to talk spanish to some of them because I really enjoy the lanugue and thought it would be neat to do so but i didnt get to work with any of the spanish speaking families. It was sad to see how these people are living when i come home to such a nice house.
The people I went with were funny as hell. We had such a blast with all that we did or said. I said i pretty stupid thing too! When we were being introduced to another group they asked where we were from and i was like north andover and i asked where they were from and they said old navy. I turned to our chaperone Laura I asked the town? and then i was like or the store? It was obviously the store. The group made fun of me for the rest of the weekend. Kara Perez also said in this high pitched excited voice "We're from St. Mikes" It was so funny I think you had to be there.
We went to the mall one night on a scavnenger hunt. It was a pretty fun time. My group was Lauren Wolfenden and Ali Sweeny, yah we won bitches! It was fun! We got to shop after and Kaileigh, Kara, Ryan, and I went to Just A Buck and EVERYTHING in the store was JUST A BUCK! It was pretty funny! It was fun in there.
Though it was mcuh work and you feel nasty the whole time it was such a great time. I really cant wait to go back down next year. I recomend that everyone tries to go because it's such an experience!!
