Dehumanizing effect:

I've been practicing my Renoising a lot lately and have been learning quite well how to humanize my drums. Nothing humans ever do is perfect. Then again it is our imperfections that makes us perfect.

Every once in a while toward the end of a drum fill I will use the F0xx call in the effects column to slow down the BPM just slightly to give that slight bit of delay and anticipation for the next bar. Don't forget to reset the BPM on the beginning of the next bar.

This kind of thing could be a killer for DJ's who rely on a super steady tempo. However a minor change in BPM for a fraction of a second really wont throw things off too far. I suppose you could ramp up the BPM at the beginning to the middle of the bar and slow it down toward the end for a similar effect. I haven't tried that one yet, but I do I will let you know how it goes (or you let me know if you try it).

It's also important to play around with the volume and delay columns. No drummer hits a snare dead on time every hit. If they do, they have no soul. Ok, not true. But sometimes an early hit or a little latency can cause a dramatic and realistic effect.

For a slight delay you can add hex from 01 to FF in the delay column (the blue one)

and to have a hit run early you can pull the sound back one line and add a heavy delay to it somewhere between A0 and FF so that it hits somewhere just before the line you would have normally placed it.

That is all I have for today. I'm certain nobody reads this thing. But if someone stumbles upon it, I hope it will be useful info! ^_^
